This review is from: McKettrick's Heart (McKettrick Men Series #3) (Mass Market Paperback)
This was one of Linda's Best books ever! I laughed out loud, and I cried. Keegan was so real. His character was well developed and while reading this book, it felt like you knew him. It felt like you right there in the middle of all the chaos. The passion was wonderful. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! I say, go pick up every single one of the McKettrick books available! There are 8 total, and one coming out in December.

This review is from: McKettrick's Heart (McKettrick Men Series #3) (Mass Market Paperback)
Linda Lael Miller writes the McKettrick Series. Book one is McKettrick's Choice, book two is McKettrick's Luck, book three is McKettrick's Pride, and book four is McKettrick's Heart. Book one is written about an ancestor of the people in the next three books and gives some background to people mentioned in the "modern McKettrick's" lives. The other three books deal with three brothers and their lives. It was enjoyable and easy reading.

This review is from: McKettrick's Heart (McKettrick Men Series #3) (Mass Market Paperback)
A contemporary western romance full of sadness and joy, McKettrick's Heart takes broken hearts and fills them with romance and goodness. More serious in tone than the others in the New McKettrick Men series, this novel still captures the reader's heart and creates a world where caring for others leads one to true happiness.
Molly Shields, a literary agent with Pulitzer prize clients, comes to Indian Rock, Arizona to pursue a more important client -- her son whom she gave up for adoption to Psyche Ryan. Psyche summoned her with promises that she would return Lucas to her, his birth-mother, as long as Molly abides by certain conditions of the contract. When Molly discovers that Psyche is dying of cancer, she thinks there is more to this contract than meets the eye. Will Psyche keep her word or is this her final revenge for having an affair with Psyche's now-deceased husband? Always the ambitious corporate businessman, Keegan McKettrick has a passion for the family business and little else. Keegan has not had much luck with women. His wife cheated on him, divorced him, took his money and daughter and still makes his life miserable with her devious games. The other McKettrick men may have found love, but Keegan is a heart-broken cynic. When he spots Psyche's maid putting Molly's baggage in his friend Psyche's car, he cannot believe the audacity of this disreputable woman. He decides to investigate Molly to protect Psyche even if he is also somehow drawn to Molly at the same time he despises her. If that was not enough, Keegan must also protect his own daughter Devon from her mother's (his ex-wife) secrets and manipulations. The romance in this novel focuses on lost children, an adopted child soon to lose his last parent and the child of an unhappy marriage and divorced parents. As in her previous romances, I find it refreshing to see characters who do what is good for others and in the process discover what is good and right for their hearts. Linda Lael Miller has a real gift for healing broken hearts in her romances. This third romance has even more unusual and difficult situations but in creating more depth, the reader experiences the same McKettrick pleasure of her hero and heroine finding exactly what they need to heal the past even if the resolution is at least in some part unexpected.

A good story and great desciptons of the countryside. The book is a fast read and the storyline moves along quickly. I like the continuation of lives of the McKettrick family.

The third in the McKettrick men trilogy, McKettrick's Heart was a really wonderful romance for anyone that is a romance buff. Keegan and Molly didn't exactly hit it off in beginning but it was a pretty lively read, good dialogue and very well written. A fast light read.

Why so hard on the heroine,

I did like this book but I am not quite sure why she was so hard on Molly. Why all the characters were really pretty cold to her. She didn't know he was married right? So ease up already! I wish she had a little more backbone and stood up for herself. Keegan should have apologized for his behavior!

I love Miller's McKettricks series... she is such a brilliant writer... this one was so sexy... I loved the plot and the characters. Molly was independent, and strong, she practically carried the weight of her world on her shoulders... Keegan was sexy and manly... I loved their chemistry in this book. Psyche was so understanding and she even pulled a trick on them, despite the fact that she was dying from terminal cancer. To me, she was a sweet character, and I was glad to see some of the other characters in there, such as Jesse, and Rance...

LLM has a good story plot but the hero in this book is a Class A Jerk from day one. He proceeds to make life miserable for the heroine. I did not like this character. However, it is good reading material and worth the time it took to read it. Get your hankies ready because it is a tearjerker |
