Book Description

When children begin to go missing, Detective Connor McLain pursues every lead at his disposal. At least until Michele Easton comes to him with information she should not have. Although she claims the info had come to her in visions, Conner is skeptical.  Until the threats begin arriving--then his suspicion is replaced with concern.  Somehow Michele calls to every protective instinct he has.

Michele had sworn she'd never speak of her dreams again.  But her fear for the missing children is compelling.  At first Conner McLain typifies everything she'd come to expect from the police.  But she hadn't expected to entrust the man with her life.  She hadn't expected to fall in love....

4.0 out of 5 stars an oldie made new again April 11, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
As I was reading this, it felt very familiar to me (I hadn't read the note from the author). And I thought that it was only reminding me of one of my favorite books, Dream Man by Linda Howard, feeling very similar in the fragile but strong, clairvoyant heroine trying to help a hard-case, cyncial and stubborn detective with his investigation. But as I kept reading, I just knew I'd read McLain's Law before, and I had, and probably have the paperback stored somewhere McLain's Law : Premiere (Silhouette Intimate Moments Ser.) (1993).

The story was good to me then, and it's good now, too. This is romantic suspense, but it's built more on the romance element, I feel, focusing more on the relationship between h and H. The suspense element of the missing children is what throws Michele and Connor together in the first place, and while that provides some interest and excitement, the true tension and enjoyment comes from the interaction between h and H.

Michele and Connor make the story for me. The author really did a fine job drawing them in a dimensional way. They both seem so real and very human, with flaws and weaknesses like stubborness, jealousy, and making wrong assumptions. They both try to protect themselves, afraid to be hurt but both really wanting to love and trust again. Connor sees his ex-wife in Michele: distant, untouchable, cold and too perfect. And because he didn't fit into his wife's classy life, he automatically assumes he's not worthy of Michele.

To Connor, Michele is an ice princess, but that's how Michele protects herself, hiding and withdrawing behind an icy facade.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Romantic/Suspense! May 5, 2012
By Hip Mom
Format:Kindle Edition
This was a wonderful story of how opposites attract. An excellent romantic/suspense story with a psychic twist. My ONLY complaint was the story ended too quickly because I really enjoyed getting to know Michele and Connor the main characters in the story. Wonderful secondary character Cruz should get his HEA. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a well written romantic/suspense story. Bravo KB!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Would read other books by this author April 28, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I come at these books from the perspective that I want my lead women portrayed as strong and smart and my lead men the same way. However, strong man does not mean, acts like arrogant 12 year old with control issues demanding their way.

That said, in general, this book wasn't too bad in that department. I try to avoid authors who portray their leads that way. However, there was one disappointing point in the book. At one point, in order to keep the lead woman in the car when she leads him to where she believes the killer has been, the lead man proceeds to cuff her to the steering wheel of the car and then leaves her there. You don't cuff people, making them helpless then leave them where anyone including the killer can now find them helpless and kill them or hurt them, especially if they are really in law enforcement. It was a stupid thing to do and unlawful imprisonment as well. Not to mention, such actions show disrespect and are demeaning. Something, you should not be showing to someone you love and supposedly respect. Overall though, I liked this book. The lead woman was fairly strong in the face of her past problems and the lead man was strong and mostly not too annoyingly overbearing. The romance was as it should be, with obstacles to be overcome on both sides in a normal way in the course of the story. The mystery/suspense was effective. I will look to read other books by this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Read It Once, You'll Read It Again! June 20, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I read this book years ago and really enjoyed it, but I'd never purchased it and I could have kicked myself. I looked everywhere and kept typing in what I remembered of the book, which was actually most of it. LOL!
No sooner did I receive this than I was reading it and once again, thoroughly enjoying the experience. I love the chemistry between Michelle Easton and Connor McLain even though at first they don't get along at all. I mean come on are there really such things as psychics? It takes a while, but eventually Connor comes to realize that Michelle isn't a whack job, but an actual card carrying psychic. Even then he struggles to accept her as she is, but eventually comes to love and accept her and her gift.

4.0 out of 5 stars McClain's Law January 4, 2013

Interesting premise with a decent story. However, Linda Howard does a more believable interpretation in "Dream Man." Worth the read.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not the detective mystery it is described to be June 17, 2012
By M. Utt
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The two paragraph description of this book reads as if it will all be about a detective's search for children who are coming up missing. The last line of the description states that he may also find love. The msytery is such a small part of the book! It is all se*. Romance it is not. What woman would go through a tramatic experience and allow a police office they just met to pull them onto their lap and then make-out with them... This goes on and on in this book.

You know a good book when you are sad to see it end, feeling like you are losing a friend. This book had no suspence, no romance. When it is over, you really don't care.
