My doctor told me to get buckwheat honey and use it in oolong tea twice a day to help soothe a cough that was lingering on way past a cold had ended. I sometimes go into a temporary type of asthma after having a chest cold. My doctor's recommendation works very well. This is dark, very flavorful honey. Some may think it is too strong, but I think it's great; especially used to sweeten tea.

The good:
I use it as a cough suppressant in those rare cases that we need it. It beats the prescription cough syrup that doctors prescribe. As most of you know, prescription cough syrup is linked to several deaths and is no better at suppressing coughs than buckwheat honey. Be aware that buckwheat honey doesn't taste as good as regular honey.

The bad:
This product arrived in a bubble wrap envelope. The envelope was torn with a gaping hole. The bottle's cap was broken in several pieces. If it wasn't for a seal under the bottle's cap, the honey would have leaked all over. The seal didn't leak, but there was stickiness on the edge. I was lucky in a way.

Yeah, I could return their sticky bottle of honey in their torn envelope, but few people would go through the hassle to do this.
The aggravation of dealing with a defective product due to poor packaging is the same as the aggravation of having to deal with a defective product. The resulting stress (with it's biological cortisol response) doesn't distinguish between them either.

Verdict:
Buy the buckwheat honey from someone that's responsible with their choice of packaging. This should have been sent in a cardboard box, not in an envelope.

I've purchased locally produced buckwheat honey for years that's made in the mountains nearby (still quite a drive). I thought I would try saving the gas and explore an Amazon honey product. What a mistake. I don't know what this is but it doesn't taste anything like buckwheat honey I've bought locally over many years, which is always quite delicious and a great sweetener for tea.

Extraordinarily bad product. Very odd aftertaste. Chemical?

Buckwheat Honey is a different type of texture and color than most honeys that I'm familiar with. It is good, but a little sweeter than I anticipated, but overall, I'm glad I tried it. I will try raw honey next time.

Tastes great and coats a sore throat when itchy and scratchy. I wouldn't recommend it for a runny nose/sore throat, but you could integrate it into homemade medicines for that if you wanted.

This is a very rich and delicious product... stronger flavor than clover honey - but not bitter or unpleasant. And a little goes a long way to flavor warm, buttered toast in the morning. For cooking, I'm guessing this honey will impart a more-obvious taste to food - but again, one that is rich and flavorful.
