5.0 out of 5 stars Nice towel, dries quickly, folds up into a small package
I have this and the large size. The large size is about the size o a normal bath towel and the extra large an oversized oned. Both work great. They are very thin and fold up to only take up maybe 20% of the space of an ordinary towel, if even that. They will dry you off as quickly as a normal towel, they just won't warm you. This product definitely dries fast and it packs small; but as another reviewer wrote, it feels like a wet clingy shirt when using it. Although it would definitely work fine for camping purposes, I probably wouldn't buy this item again. The Aquis brand has a much better feel to it when it is wet.

Edit: 6 months later and these are holding up well. I have two that I personally use and they are getting washed after every two uses. They look the same as the day I received them. After switching the whole house to these, I have noticed a big difference in the dryer times and gas I am using. Would still recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars The zero space option to get dry, February 26, 2011

This is not a travel towel. A travel towel is white, fluffy, and magically gets clean and folded if you leave it on the floor in the hotel bathroom. This, what looks like a piece of leftover fabric from the Jedi robe that your mom made for you last Halloween (you know who your are; move out already) is an anywhere you happen to be caught in a freek rainstorm, run for cover, pull it out of your pocket (yes, it will fit) and get dry towel (horrible sentence structure but great immagry).
I was told to buy this before I left for Afghanistan due to the nature of my duty here; constantly on the move doing construction. I had to be able to pack for a week in one backpack never knowing how long it would take to get back to base. I could settle for a hand towel which will fold up small and eventually get you dry or this piece of fabric. I trusted the other people's opinion on this and got two (olive drab, go military). I got the large (30" x 50"). Small enough to not be dragging on the floor when I hang it on a nail by the strategicly placed snap loop, and big enough to wrap around and not flash half my cheek to the other guys in the shower tent.
It folds (or rolls) up small; less than the size of a folded medium t-shirt. So it takes up virtually no room in the pack. And, yes, it will dry you off amaizingly well. You don't have to rub yourself dry, just pat it on you and the water is gone. My wife says that it even drys her long hair better that her regular towel. The only thing weird is, not a downside just something to get used to, the first time I used it it felt like I was rubbing myself with couch material. You get used to it pretty quick though. It doesn't bother me because, hey, I'm dry. The towel drys itself very quickly too. Just over an hour in humid Hawaii and in less than half that in dry Afghanistan. (warning, this is not a beach towel. It's light weight means it will blow away easily in the wind) It doesn't stink, even when you forget to take it off the nail for a few weeks to get it washed.
It earns a full five stars for rolling up nice and tight and whip-cracking really well. Nice big welts for those of you who find that feature in towels important.

1. Yes, when wet, it does feel like a wet towel. The good this is, you will obviously see the dry parts of the towel and use that dry portion. Try that on a regular towel. I did it with my white regular towel and it can not happen.

2. Yes it does not give you the warm, hugging you feeling when you wrap it around yourself just like a regular towel would. But I accept this.

3. It does dry fast, no stinky smell, no commercial or "technical" smell.

I think it's great especially for travelers like me. At home, I still go with regular towels. Btw, I say get Large as minimum. I was indecisive to get the Medium. I'm happy I got the Large for it's similar size to a regular towel. I think anything smaller is too small. I think a Medium will be hard to wrap and keep around your waist.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!, July 21, 2009

Great product and well worth the expense. This is a generously sized towel that is both lightweight and compact. The folded size is slightly larger than a high quality washcloth folded square. If you're looking for a great towel that won't take up much packing space, look no further. The XL size towel is roughly the same size as a beach towel. I've purchased four of the Micronet Towels in both Large and Extra Large sizes and have been incredibly impressed at their durability and shape/size retention... even after a year of daily use and regular laundering.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent choice, May 17, 2010

I purchased 3 of these towels for a recent backpacking trip and they are excellent. The medium size is large enough to dry me off effectively but not large enough to wrap around me if I were walking to/from the bathroom. It folds smaller than a washcloth. The material feels like suede... which is nice when the towel is dry but is an odd experience when the towel is wet. It means you must use to towel to sort of 'dab' the water off you rather than rubbing, as you would with a normal towel.

I bought this towel to take to the gym with me. I do a lot of bikram yoga and carrying all the towels/mat/and change of clothes gets a bit cumbersome so I was looking for ways to down size. This towel takes up almost no space in my gym bag, but is sufficient for drying my body and hair after the shower... it's not the most comfy towel, but it's hardly rough or scratchy either and it gets the job done.

2.0 out of 5 stars A little strange, September 29, 2010

Drying yourself with this towel is a strange experience. The towel absorbs water, but only if you draw the towel over the wet area. Blotting doesn't do anything, you have to wipe. This sounds like no big deal, but when the towel is slipperier against itself than against your body, and when the wet areas of the towel LOOK and FEEL like they aren't drying you, it is more difficult than you'd expect to actually get yourself dry. Part of the difficulty, I suspect, comes from the towel having no pile whatsoever; it is very smooth. Folks used to normal terry cloth towels will have some difficulty with this at first.

PRO: large, lightweight, packs up small
CON: difficult to use, doesn't get you as dry as a normal towel, must be laundered without fabric softener in order to not lose absorbency

4.0 out of 5 stars good towel if you need to pack light, September 24, 2009

This towel is very light and compact, yet large. It's not very pleasant to use, being very thin and 'sticky' but will dry you off after a shower or swim and dries quickly. The mesh stuff sack is nice too. Also bought an Aquis crepe towel which feels much more like a real towel but is more than twice as bulky. I'll probably use the Aquis for traveling and save this one for backpacking and emergencies.

5.0 out of 5 stars MICRONET Microfiber Towel LARGE, November 11, 2011

This review is from: MICRONET Microfiber Towel (Sports)
Pros:
- Multiple Sizes
- Absorbent
- Quick Drying
- Washer & Dryer Safe
- Space Saving
- Stitched Hook Loop

Cons:
- Bulky Storage Bag

Thoughts:
Replaced all my regular towels with these. They are on the expensive side but are absolutely necessary for deployments. I currently have 4 onboard and 4 of these takes up less space than 1 issue cotton towel. They are definitely a different feel from regular towels in that you might have to blot dry. Machine wash or hand wash is fine. They can be hand wrung or machine dried on low. Takes less than an hour to dry from hand wrung. No signs of fading after 9 months. It might shrink or stretch on regular heat in the dryer so don't risk it. The hook loop comes with a snap button; I never use it so I doubt it will fail. Hook loop holds well under load.

I highly recommend size LARGE 30"x50". Buy some stencil pens and label them near the hook loop. Would definitely buy again. The storage bag adds too much bulk so don't bother bringing it. It comes as a bonus so I won't count it against the product.

Bottom Line:
Highly Recommended!
