You can't beat Steve McQueen, such a great actor.
Kerry G. Harris
Whether playing an 1870's cowboy, a 1970's cop, or any role set in the decades in between, McQueen was always cool.
Jeff
Great Escape is one of the best wartime movie ever made.

This collection of Steve McQueen collects 4 of McQueen's best films from his career. Each is on its own disc and appears to be the same as the stand alone discs, except they are all in one collection.

Video and audio quality are the best you've seen from these films, and if you don't already own any of the four, and even if you own one or 2, the price for the collection is great regardless. Each of the films on Blu Ray runs anywhere from $10 - $17 standalone, and this set saves you space as it is only a single sized Blu Ray case (slightly larger than a normal Blu Ray case).

The four films you receive are:

The Great Escape
The Magnificent Seven
The Thomas Crown Affair
The Sand Pebbles

The quality is good, the price is right and it's Steve McQueen. You can't go wrong.

Highly recommended

Don't get too crazy about this one folks. It's on sale for 13 dollars but you won't find much to like here if you are a stickler. TMS is already on bluray, and besides the mediocre Thomas Crown Affair, is the only film that looks good to great. The Great Escape has not be given its due restoration and suffers from low bitrate and very weak master, whatever was used. The Sand Pebbles is MPEG 2 plus low bitrate and not really worth it imo.

So is the entire set worth it? IDK. For me the only film I want out of this as they are presented is The Magnificent Seven and I already have it for 5 bucks. It's too bad they couldn't even faithfully restore TGE but then again 4k is coming very soon and no doubt this will get yet another release like Patton that looks much better. It's up to you I'm just here to warn you of the deficiencies of such a set.

This is a 4-disc MGM set, as can be seen if you search elsewhere for more info, but at the time I am writing this, this has been an Amazon "deal of the week" all week while being listed as 1 disc and having no helpful reviews to fill in more info (at least on the mobile version of Amazon), making it appear like some knock-off with 4 films crammed onto a single blu-ray. You have to wonder how much this has hurt their "deal of the week" sales volume. My rating is for the films, NOT the item description (obviously) or the blu-ray discs themselves, which I have not received.

Whether playing an 1870's cowboy, a 1970's cop, or any role set in the decades in between, McQueen was always cool. And he was fortunate to be cast in some classic movies, with fantastic co-stars. This collection includes some of the best. There's nothing in this set that I wouldn't watch twice...or thrice...

I have always said that blu-ray players were made to watch action movies and I would've paid the price just to see "The Great Escape". The other 3 movies, however, were the icing on the cake! GET THIS COLLECTION!

I think this is a very good collection for the money. The video and audio are good and the movies themselves are very good.
