4.0 out of 5 stars Excellnet refrence for serious MCSE students.
The book is compiled in an extraordinary way. Any person interested in the Microsoft certification and is dedicated to take on the challange at home is encouraged to pick up this and othet New Riders MCSE books as well.

3.0 out of 5 stars Use this book as a second or third resource.
I would say this book rates as a second or third resource when preparing for MCSE testing. The Microsoft publication for Networking Essentials is probably a better choice for a first level resource when preparing for test 70-58

Be prepared to get hands on knowledge because the book tells you to do different execises and also impresses upon spending a lot of time on the computer, because that is the only way to learn.
The included CD Rom has Tests on it but its bad, so be ready to download it from the Microsoft WEB site, not a big problem.

Overall the book is a great asset.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not detailed enough for Exam Study, May 14, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: McSe Study Guide: Windows 95 and Networking Essentials (Paperback)
Although has much good information and is easier to read than the Windows 95 Resource guide. The questions at the end of the chapters are too simple and there is a lot of information missing that you need to know to pass the exam

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good basic coverage of WIN95 and Networking for tests, January 10, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: McSe Study Guide: Windows 95 and Networking Essentials (Paperback)
The Windows 95 section is good, but could be more info on Registry. It is designed as a MCSE book, not as a general reference.
If you do not have a good working knowledge of 95, one of the standard 95 books would be in order.

The Networking part was very good, especially in relating all the different networking type, protocols and systems to the OSI model. It is a little light on each individual network (Netware, TCP/IP, etc) but that is because it designed for the test, not for actual ops.

Good book, but the CD has tests only for Windows 95 & NT 3.51, not NT 4.0, due to publicaion date.

3.0 out of 5 stars Windows 95 is fine, not Networking Essentials, November 30, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: McSe Study Guide: Windows 95 and Networking Essentials (Paperback)
The Windows 95 part is fine, it covers quite a bit of this very difficult exam. However, the Networking Essentials part is a bit dis-organized. Over-all, it's ok, worth the money I would say.
