4.0 out of 5 stars useful book, July 21, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Mdpocket Medical Reference Guide: Resident Edition: A Quick Guide For: Interns, Residents, Medical Professionals (Spiral-bound)
comparing to maxwell this pocket book is easier to read, includes procedures and much other useful info. The only thing I miss is the note format that maxwell has, but if you are an intern this is valuable information close at hand.

After purchasing the first edition of MD Pocket, I decided to buy the MD Pocket Resident Edition. I am pleased to announce that this edition like the first far exceeds my expectations. It possesses all the real-time knowledge, and omits many items that are no longer practically used in the medical field. All sections are easy to access with quick access tab form for emergency reference, when seconds count!

4.0 out of 5 stars handy reference, October 12, 2010

This review is from: Mdpocket Medical Reference Guide: Resident Edition: A Quick Guide For: Interns, Residents, Medical Professionals (Spiral-bound)
As a third year medical student, I bought this instead of maxwells for the ACLS stuff I thought was better, there is a section of Positives: ECGs and procedures basic procedures as well as visual examples of various sutures and the indications for their use are included.

Negatives: Some of the things may be useless (like rules for hour limits of being on call). There's also some other things I would have beefed up (like normal electrolyte/serum values beyond a basic BMP). Some of the pages look like a sketchy cut-and paste job that was then shrunken down to fill up a page in a tiny pocket-guide notebook (AKA, lots of busy and lack in the aesthetics department).

Glad I bought it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than Maxwell's, March 27, 2010

This review is from: Mdpocket Medical Reference Guide: Resident Edition: A Quick Guide For: Interns, Residents, Medical Professionals (Spiral-bound)
This little book is way way way better than a Maxwell. It has everything that is in Maxwell's plus more stuff. It even has suturing diagrams, EKG's, epidemiology, CXRs, need-to-know equations, sepsis protocol, and every lab value ever. Need I say more...well there is but I think you get the gist.
