Very sultry...shades of the man he will become on General Hospital (Miguel). Most of these songs make you want to curl up in front of a fire with the man of your dreams! Latin with soft jazz over-tones. As Ricky himself describes his music...fusion. A mix if rhythms and it works! Hope he's around for a long time!

Smooth and easy Ricky,

"Me Amaras" is one of the early solo Spanish albums of Ricky Martin. In his smooth, confident performances on this CD, one can hear the voice of a young man on the verge of international, cross-cultural megastardom. While the material on "Me Amaras" is not as memorable as that of Ricky's later Spanish-language triumphs, this is still an enjoyable collection. The album is rich in romantic ballads, and also has some faster selections. One standout is the ballad "Eres Como el Aire." Also interesting is a Spanish-language version of "Self Control," the song which was a 1980s hit for Laura Branigan; Ricky's performance is particularly strong on that one. The final song, "Hooray! Hooray! (It's a Holi-Holiday!) mixes Spanish and English lyrics, and has an energetic tropical flavor. All things considered, this is an essential disc for Ricky Martin fans, and also a good choice for fans of Latin pop in general.

Ricky Martin's second solo outing is a great treat for all of us romantics. In collaboration with Juan Carlos Calderon (composer & producer for various Luis Miguel albums), Mr. Martin explores his soft, sensual side. This album is off to a great start with "No Me Pidas Mas", but doesn't quite make it. This album seems to wander in all directions, without quite knowing where it's headed. By the end of the album ("Horray! Horray! (It's a Holiday)") I was left a little lost. "Horray!..." feels like an afterthought. It was thrown in to make the album a little more upbeat. When the album let's the romace flow, however, you are in for quite a treat. There are a number of songs that can turn a nice romantic evening into an EXCELLENT romantic evening. Among my favorites are "Entre El Amor Y Los Halagos", "Lo Que Nos Pase, Pasara", and (my favorite) "Me Amaras".

This album is simply brilliant. With touches of jazz, rock, pop, and that simply beautiful voice, Ricky Martin's Me Amaras is fabulous. Songs like "No Me Pidas Mas" and "Entre El Amor Y Los Halagos", will sweep any one off their feet and the title track is also wonderful. This album is well worth the investment. As a long time fan of Mr. Martin's I can assure you that this is truly a priceless addition to any cd collection.
