5.0 out of 5 stars Into The Heart, January 26, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Me And U2 (Kindle Edition)
Written by a fan for the fans, Cathal tells his story from boy to man (or Boy to Bomb if you prefer!?)
A candid account of the ups and downs of being a fan of the worlds biggest rock band. If you have ever tried to score last minute tickets, worn out old VHS tapes, bought dodgy bootleg tapes or just 'air drummed' to Sunday Bloody Sunday then consider this book a must buy.
But it's not just about the music. From a teenager living in the divided city of Derry up to his present life working as a teacher in London, there are tales of regret, tales of joy which will strike a chord with all.
U2 fans will really love this book. Others will merely love it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Me & U2 - It's a Musical Journey, January 25, 2010
This review is from: Me And U2 (Kindle Edition)
Our best life experiences are the ones we share. In Me & U2, Cathal McCarron shares his coming-of-age story as seen through the prism of someone lucky enough to grow up in Derry, Ireland as U2 were making the jump from a second-tier act to the Biggest Band in the World. Readers will experience the thrills of The Fly's first play on the radio, ZooTV from the floor, and standing outside an arena hoping for a last-minute ticket. U2 fans will relish the opportunities to feel that they were there with McCarron, rushing to the front of the pit or staying late after a concert to hunt for memorabilia. Readers of all musical stripes will be touched on a deeper level to learn how U2's music guided McCarron through the transition from childhood to college, a broken heart, his mother's cancer, and finding his vocation. Me & U2 is a funny, honest, and musical sharing of a life, and like U2's work, is more and more enjoyable after every reading. The straightforward, honest storytelling will inspire readers to identify their own life soundtracks and, like McCarron and the members of U2, to dream out loud.
