true story,
By Dmitri Karamazov (Memphis, TN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Me Being Me (Audio CD)
On Monday, March 6, My mom was working as a flight attendant on a trip from LA to Memphis. She was working the Coach section when an `old white flight attendant' is complaining about some commotion in First Class:
Old White Flight Attendant: "I just had a confrontation with a large black man." My Mom: "What's the problem." Old White Flight Attendant: "He has an oversized-bag which he refuses to check because he says he has an Oscar in it." My Mom: "Really, who is he?" Old White Flight Attendant: "I don't know and I don't care. He has an oversized bag." So my Mom goes up front to find out who he is. She had seen Three 6 Mafia and Frayser Boy (who wrote the lyrics to "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp") perform on the Oscars last night, and thought he looked familiar: My Mom: Excuse me, but weren't you on TV performing that song last night?" Frayser Boy: "Yeah, the one from Hustle & Flow..." My Mom: "It's Hard Out There Being a Pimp?" Frayser Boy: Yeah! That's me, Cedric! My mom got him to sign a passenger's list with his name on it for me first, but then she ended up finding a USA Today that had his picture in it, so he could sign it for me. When she gave it to him, it was like this: Mom: Sorry to bother you again, Cedric, but I found this... Frayser Boy: Oh! I had heard that I was in the paper today but I hadn't seen it... Mom: Well, you can't have this copy, I wanted you to autograph it for my son! Frayser Boy: Oh, okay. But will you let me know if you find another one of these? My mom ended up tracking down another USA Today for Cedric, and that was that. She said he was very nice. She's says he had a Diet Sierra Mist and went to sleep. He did show her the Oscar though, and when the plane landed he walked out holding it in his hand.

Great Southern Hip Hop,

The beats on this album are very close to the Flawless category.
It has a good Dirty Crunk South feel to it and that is why as of 10/30/2005 It's one of my Top 30 albums of the year. There are some problems on here like Fraysor Boy's lyrics but they are pretty deep and emotional but the beats may be Top 5 of 05. P.S.-This album is better then the new 3-6 Mafia joint

Dj Paul n Juicy are never on time when they bother to say when albums are comin out..unless its there own. So when i did find this one, i got it asap. The Beats are On point, too bad 3-6 albums havent been as good lately beat wise. Paul n Juicy Produce Better for lil wyte n Frayser better than they do themselves. Anyway, Tha Intro, Water, N*ggaz n Da Hood ,F*kem, Smokin Session, but Ridin is da best. Glad Pat's outta jail he keeps his mouth shut bout it tho on his cameo's. Thats too bad. I wudnt say this is an improvment frum tha first cuz that one was just as good. I guess simply cuz this one is newer. The B.A.R Album'z gonna set the bar.Where the hell is CRUNCHY's At?

Frayser Boy delivers once again!,

This is the best HCP album this year so far. Frayser Boy follows his first album (Gone On Dat Bay) with an even better sophmore effort. The album begins with a very good Me Being Me intro. Followed by a song featuring Lil' Wyte entitled Water, which is also pretty good. The next song is the single I Got Dat Drank featuring Mike Jones & Paul Wall. It is an okay song, but I don't really like the Mike Jones verse. I never liked Mike Jones even when he was underground, since his lyrics suck. The album really jumps off on the next track with N***az In Da Hood f/Crunchy Black. Then follows the great song Stay Focused and You Smell That. Stay Focused has a tight beat. Other good songs include Da Summa Tyme, My Smokin' Session, Ain't Nothin' Changed, Serious, and Ridin. I was also surprised at how good the Posse Song was since lately they have not been that good. What I don't understand is why DJ Paul & Juicy "J" produce good albums for Lil' Wyte & Frayser Boy but turn totally commercial on their Three 6 Mafia albums (Most Known Unknown for ex.). I think Three 6 should start producing their own albums like they do for Frayser Boy. But anyways, go ahead and pick up Me Being Me. It is tight and should be bumped by any rap fan!

If Only "Stay High(Fly)" Were On This Cd,

Great cd. The intro is the hottest on the album(to me). "She Got Me Sayin Damn" and "Da Summa Tyme" round out my 3 fav tracks. This cd is the best effort by the superproducers since Lil Wyte's "Doubt Me Now" if not better, and the best since 3-6 moved into full time crunk music. If u got cheese, u betta grab it. If a song like "Stay High" were on this cd this would go ghetto platinum.

i cant lie, this is good, real good in fact. frayser boy's lyrical quality are more improved on this, definitely meeting that sophomore album expectations. i like this alot, i guess i would have to say that "riding" is my favorite track...paul and juice will ALWAYS come through on the production side, no doubt, so that is never lacking, and this CD is no different...overall, i like this just as much if not more from "Gone On That Bay", go ahead and get this if you know whats good for ya
