The late Donald Jacks created a masterpeice in the 8 volumed chronicles of Bartholamew Bandy. Ranging from his entry into military service in 1916 through his adventures in France, Russia, India, and World War 2. I loved all his books and am sorry there won't be anymore.If you have the opportunity read them in order from volume 1 "THree Cheers for Me" through volume 8 "Stalin versus Me"
