Excellent YA literature, January 15, 2006
This review is from: Me (Paperback)
'Me' by Mike Chin is a thoughtful book which chronicles a year in the life of a high school student. His main character has a distinct voice, and while the period of her life detailed in the novel is dramatic, many of her problems are relatable to any student that age. Though on occasions the plot may feel a little overcrowded, the strong voice, emotion, interplay between the characters, and character development shine through. Excellent work, and a book that would be appropriate for teaching in schools.

Perspective, April 8, 2004
This review is from: Me (Paperback)
I've come to appreciate when an author can offer the perspective of someone outside of their own gender. Having a female lead is a step outside of a male author's comfort zone, and if he is able to pull it off believably, then more power to him. Chin is able to do just that. Kudos.

Interesting book for young and old, March 30, 2003
This review is from: Me (Paperback)
Michael Chin has written a great book for the high school/college-age set -- Ideal for use in English classes and for light reading. The plot moves swiftly but is not light on detail. It may not be "War and Peace," but "Me" is certainly a valuable and talented effort by this young author who values blue fishing hats.
