A magical end to a wonderous career,
By Ed Pflug (Pasadena) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Me And The Moon (Audio CD)
Jimmy Rowles was the kind of pianist that many people loved, even if they didn't know it. The back-up he provided for Ella, Billie, Peggy and other jazz singers was perfect almost without exception. This CD was recorded toward the end of his life, when they say that emphysema had worn him down so much, he couldn't sing more than a few words at a time without stopping to rest, but his gifts on the piano were as strong as ever, and his love for Stacy comes pouring out all over this CD. Stacy is one of the best things going in jazz today and it's a shame that more people don't know it. How could anyone listen to great songs like "Softly" or "Things Are Looking Up" and not realize that she's one of the best singers in the business today? Everyone who likes Jimmy Rowles and good jazz ballad singing owes it to themselves to get this CD.

The Best,

Stacy and Jimmy make the greatest sound. With her elegant voice and his raspy voice, it mixes just right to bring you a smooth album. 5 stars
