Me and My Gang is a very entertaining CD,

This review is from: Me & My Gang (Audio CD)
I really enjoyed listening to this new CD by Rascal Flatts. Stand is my favorite song on this album. It is a song with a very positive message that you can overcome hard times if you stay focused and don't give up. The title track is a fun upbeat track about hanging out with your gang of friends having fun. What Hurts The Most is another gem here. This is an excellent song about the pain of breaking up with someone, and the difficulty of expressing your feelings to that person. I could really relate to the lyrics of this song. Cool Thing is another highlight track here. This song is about how two people find each other and fall in love. This song is also about how it feels when the person you love leaves you. I love Gary LeVox's emotional vocals on this song. Ellsworth is a very touching song about a grandmother suffering from Alzheimers disease and how a special place conjures up memories of long ago. I love the lyrics of My Wish. This is a beautiful song about all of the good wishes of love and prosperity you could have for someone you love. Me and My Gang is a very entertaining CD. I enjoyed it very much.

The actual song Me and My Gang was the song played at my sister's wedding as the wedding party-our family-rode up the aisle on our motorcycles. So this album has alot of meaning for me. The variety in the songs and sentiments will have you laughing, rocking and crying. My Wish For You will leave you in tears if you ever lost anyone you loved who loved you. The whole CD is a great ride. I recommend it! Enjoy!

I'm a new fan of Rascal Flatts. I love their music. It's catchy, heart wrenching, enchanting, soulful and simply blissful. Before the CD was released, I caught a glimpse of the music video for What Hurts the Most and it broke my heart. This CD is filled with ballads and upbeat songs, but also beautifully put together. I couldn't resist pre-ordering a copy.
Here are some of my thoughts on a few of the tracks on this CD: Stand: A beautiful lyric about being steadfast when things get hard and going through hard times makes you stronger What Hurts the Most: Heart-wrenching ballad about losing someone you love. The music video will make you cry. Backwards: Witty, fast and very catchy tune about how wonderful it would be if you could get back everything you've lost if you could simply play a country song backwards. LOL Me and My Gang: I love this song! It's fast, clean and makes me want to get up and dance. My Wish: This is a farewell song; sort of like a good-bye letter you'd write to someone you love. I love it. The words are filled with such goodness, such wonderful desires for all that life has to offer for a cherished one.

Thanks for making the choice easy,

I am using the song "My Wish" for the mother/son dance at my son's wedding. He is in the Marine Corps and along way from home and this song says what I want to say to him. Of course, I will probably be blubbering all the way through it! It is hard to pick things my son will like for the wedding when he is not here to give me his opinion but I want the wedding to be special and what he and his bride will want. This song made at least one of my choices easy. Thanks, Rascal Flatts!

L-O-V-E,

I L-O-V-E this CD! There is not a bad song on the whole thing. I've had it in my car CD player pretty much non-stop since I got it a couple of weeks ago.
I've heard the criticism ("sounds too pop" or "lyrics from Me and My Gang are too simplistic"), but if the music sounds good and makes you feel good, who cares?? Who cares about classifications (pop vs country)? Who cares if the lyrics on ONE SONG aren't exactly Shakespearean? (Why aren't beautiful harmonies, kick butt instrumentals, and a great tempo enough?) If you like Rascal Flatts already, GET THIS CD. If you don't like Rascal Flatts already, GET THIS CD (because you soon will)!

Another great recording,

I have always liked Rascal Flatts but started loving them on the last album especially with the song "Bless the Broken Road". The first song on this cd "What hurts the most" makes me cry every time I hear it and everytime I see the video. Losing someone you love especially without telling them how you really felt is something I can relate to. I didn't see my great-grandmother in the last year of her life and was not able to fully express how much I loved her. The rest of the cd is good and my favorite songs are "Stand," "My Wish," and "Ellsworth". "Ellsworth" is about someone's grandmother with Alzheimer's who doesn't remember much except for when she was married to her husband back in 1948. I highly recommend this cd to anyone who loves country and well-written and produced songs.

Definitely one of the best in country.,
By Uptempo "Joshua" (Tennessee, USA) - See all my reviews

I have listened to this album online on Rhapsody a few times, and I would say that while it is more deep then "Feels like Today."
Stand - 10/10. Great song and I'd say this will be their 2nd or 3rd release. What Hurts the Most - 10/10. 1st release, Great song. Some reviewer said that a girl on S-Club 7 did a previous version of this song. Also, in 2003, country music singer Mark Wills did this song, but he never released it (no idea why). Backwards - 5/10. Filler material. Only one of two songs on the whole album that have an uptempo beat to them. I Feel Bad - 8.5/10. My Wish - 10/10. This, along with What Hurts the Most and Stand, are what I would consider the future releases. Pieces - 8.5/10. Yes I do - 9/10. To Make Her Love Me - 9/10. Words I couldn't Say - 9/10. Me and my Gang - 6/10. I really don't see why people are saying this is going to be their next release. I'd be VERY suprised if this was a release and I'm usually more intrigued by uptempo songs then the softer ones. Very twangy...Starts off good but gets worse as song progresses, and the lyrics are pretty weak. Cool Thing - 8.5/10. Ellsworth - 8/10. He Aint the Leaving Kind - 8/10 Overall one of the best country CD's of the year. If you are more of an uptempo person then I wouldn't recommend this CD, because this CD is pretty low tempo.....not low tempo like "Tonight I wanna Cry" but mostly like "What Hurts the Most."

Not as good as "Feels Like Today", but still great anyway!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Me & My Gang (Audio CD)
First off, I have heard all of their songs, and I must say that Rascal Flatts, to my ears, has not made a "bad" song. Every song has had either great lyrics, sound, or both. I hope this review helps you in choosing this CD.
1. Stand - 10/10 - One of my favorites. This songs message sounds very similar to "When The Sand Runs Out" of 'Feels Like Today'. It's a very motivational song, and could possibly be a single. If you're ever feeling low, put this song on. 2. What Hurts The Most - 10/10 - The band's first single of the CD, and a great one at that. This one talks about a boy/girlfriend that left the others life and the thing that hurts them the most was the unsaid words and actions. Very moving song. 3. Backwards - 8/10 - When I heard the piano at the beginning of this song, I knew that this would be one of the more countrier songs of the album. About singing a country song backwards. Lyrics are absolutely great, the sound is mediocre. 4. I Feel Bad - 9/10 - This is a song about a relationship ending, and, from the singer's point of view, they should be falling apart and feeling bad, but they don't. 5. My Wish - 10/10 - Another one of my personal favorites of the album. This song and 'Stand' have very similar messages, but this one comes from another one's point of view and wishes the best for them. 6. Pieces - 8.5/10 - One of the mediocre songs of the album. About entering into a bad relationship. 7. Yes I Do - 8/10 - Another song about a relationship ending, yet "I do pray anyway." 8. To Make Her Love Me - 10/10 - Another favorite of mine. A person prays to God, thinking of all of His miracles, asks God "To make her love me" and 9. Words I Couldn't Say - 8/10 - The title explains it all. The relationship ends, again, and all the person hears now are the "words I couldn't say." 10. Me And My Gang - 10/10 - I can imagine this song playing in a car filled with just girls or just boys and everyone singing together. This song is the most "rock"ish song that Rascal Flatts has done in their career, yet one of the best, nevertheless. Has one of the best lyrics on the CD. 11. Cool Thing - 9/10 - Gary LeVox sings the heck out of this one. Talks about a romantic evening, and the girl wasn't looking for love, and the "Cool Thing" was neither was the other. 12. Ellsworth - 9/10 - About a grandmother who can't remember yesterday, "But just ask her about Ellsworth, Kansas 1948." A great, soft ballad. 13. He Ain't The Leavin' Kind - 10/10 - My favorite of the album. This songs will have a place in my heart. This song talks about that God ain't the leavin' kind. No matter what you do or what you believe, He is still there. And even if He gets kicked out of the schoolhouse and the courthouse, He ain't gone. Personally, I don't think this album is as good as "Feels Like Today", because this album seems to deal with alot of heartbreak, but it's still a great album. I am very impressed with the song selection Rascal Flatts decided to choose. If they had a couple more songs like 'Me And My Gang' this would have been hands-down the best album they made. Good job Rascal Flatts, so you on tour!! |
