5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, March 6, 2008

This review is from: Me, Myself and Him (Urban Christian) (Paperback)
My friend and I read this book together and it just caught us by surprise. This book was touching and so moving. Thank you for sharing so much of God with us. I know Him and I've tried Him for myself, but there are still times that I feel like the characters in this book. In fact, through this writing, God was telling me to wait and trust in Him on some matters that I'm going through. I know that some think books of this kind are preachy, but this was fabulous. We've cried and prayed and just enjoyed this book. If you have questions about your Christian walk, this is the book to read. Me, Myself and Him (Urban Christian)

May God continue to bless and keep you in His tender care.

5.0 out of 5 stars GOD Aint Into Threesomes, July 21, 2008
This review is from: Me, Myself and Him (Urban Christian) (Paperback)
This is my first Urban Christian book, and I am very pleased to say I could not have picked a better one to start with. Author E.N. Joy really kept me captivated in the novel. She had me feeling as if Locksie's struggles were my own.

Meet Locksie, a young woman with a live in boyfriend Dawson. They have a love that is so strong and unconditional, that it should be the envy of others in a struggling relationship or single person. Things start to change when Locksie starts to have an internal struggle. Unable to shake the feelings that are causing problems in her relationship, they both seek advice. Locksie from her Christian Aunt Mary, who after many talks finally gets her to commit to going to church with her. Locksie is no stranger to church as she grew up in the church with her overbearing Christian mother. Her mother's ways and views on church have left a bad taste in Locksie's mouth to say the least.

Dawson is a handsome young man with a good head on his shoulder. His love for Locksie is evident in all he does. His problem is he doesn't know how to handle this change going on with her. The person he goes to for advice is his younger brother Drake.Low and Behold, Drake is also a Christian leaving Dawson feeling as if he is getting the "holier than thou" from every angle.

Hannah is an acquaintance of Locksie's, whom is dealing with the fact that her husband has done the unforgivable. He went out and had an affair with Peni which resulted in the birth of a child. Now Peni is the most self-centered person around and has lots of fun taunting Hannah with the fact that she has not been able to give her own husband a child.

Through events that take place in this fast moving novel, Hannah and Locksie deal with trials and tribulations that make them share a bond, they become real friends and share a sisterhood.

Praises to E.N. Joy for making me a believer that an Urban Christian book can be just as enjoyable as the typical urban book that I love to read. Me, Myself and Him did not lack for the story line I was looking for. This book has a great story of the struggle between right and wrong. It also has the deceit, underhanded ways of people in general, the trust issues, the cheating, the character Peni you will love to hate, and of course some shockers had me yelling at the book "what in God's name are you doing?".

E.N. Joy keep up the great work and I looking forward to reading your next Urban Christian book.

This review is from: Me, Myself and Him (Urban Christian) (Paperback)
Locksie and Dawson met three years ago and have been a serious item since. But lately another man has embraced Locksie; and his unconditional love has caused Locksie to have doubts that are threatening to come between her and Dawson!

Locksie was no stranger to church as her mother and Aunt Mary were devoted Christians, but her mother was always citing scriptures instead of mother/daughter conversations; this pushed Locksie closer to her Aunt Mary who at least kept it real.

Trying to wash away the sin of fornication in the shower wasn't working anymore and Locksie felt the need to follow her heart which now belongs to God.
Dawson saw the change in Locksie and wasn't happy about it. He was sure of her love and he loved her too; so why can't she stay with the program and do what lovers do? Bringing this question to his younger brother Drake was no help as Drake was also a man of God, dealing with his own daily fight against sin.
Locksie and Dawson's relationship run into trouble as each try to understand the changes that are evident in Locksie but both disagree on what to do about it.

Hannah and her husband Elkan have been unsuccessfully trying to have a baby for years. Elkan has an affair which results in a son. Hannah has to come to terms with this, along with dealing with her stepson's mother Peni; who throws the fact that she's Elkan's ONLY baby mother in Hannah's face every chance she gets!

Hannah and Locksie are confidants who are struggling on their walk with Christ. But what they don't know is that their worlds are going to collided making each woman come to a decision they hope they can live with.

An excellent Christian debut by this seasoned author.
E.N Joy made a giant leap from penning popular secular novels to listening to her soul and moving to the next level in her career.

I am sure all her fans will take this enlightening walk along and continue to enjoy her work as I have.

Thank you Ms Joy, you've done my name proud in this excellent novel of a woman's journey to follow her heart.
