Her best album,

This review is from: Me Myself I (Audio CD)
Released in 1980, this is one of Joan's best. It's more upbeat and less serious (listen to Me Myself I) than her ealier work, yet contains some gorgeous ballads (All the Way from America). If you like Tracy Chapman or the Indigo Girls' early work, you'll love Joan.

I've been looking for this since 1981,

I got "Me, Myself, I" when I reviewed the album-- yes, vinyl-- as an entertainment reporter for my college paper. My copy was stolen later, along with all my albums, and I've been looking for a copy in stores ever since. It's perpetually on my holiday gift list, but we've not found it until now. This album is on my Top Ten list and has been forever. Her lyrics are compassionate, resonant. She plays her voice like an instrument. Absolutely recommended.

When I was a much, much younger man I first heard Joan Armatrading at a private club in Munich. It was love - and in particular, it was "Me Myself I" that helped me through some very difficult times in my life. Joan's music is intensely personal, sometimes overwhelmingly so. Yet, her emotional risks in her music are precisely what make her music so appealing. I think many people will identify with Joan at different points in their lives, and the music at each stage wonderfully captures where so many of us were in our twenties, thirties, and older. So much less heralded than she deserves commercially, Joan should have a place in your heart and your music collection.

Breakout album, wonderfully produced and arranged, highly charged songwriting and singing...this maybe the best least-known album of the past 30 years.
Turn the volume UP ,put on ' Me, Myself,I" and just TRY to remain calm.

Me, Myself I : Am I so narcissic and selfish to love such an titled album ? Not indeed (oh yes maybe a little). When i was about 10 years old, my oldest sister bought this LP And during several weeks, maybe over this lasting time, i listened this album and was charmed with it mostly the first song. it sounds to me like a rock, soul album where the beat is really powerful and the voice loud and bass of Joan recalls me these old happy days of my childhood. aMONG SEVERAL OTHERS ARTISTS, She made me discover rock, soul music five years before Bruce springsteen entered my life as a real icon. So great to have bought this cd and rediscovered Joan Armatrading.
