The first book for sexually abused teens to turn to

When teenagers are victims of sexual abuse, the 'normal' problems of adolescence are exacerbated. The authors validate the conflicting emotions aroused by sexual abuse and offer these adolescents simple, concrete advice about reporting the abuse and how to seek counseling.

This unique book is for teenagers in therapy that have been victims of sexual abuse, as well as for their therapists. Through written, visual, and relaxation exercises, the book shows survivors how to begin to cope.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Me Nobody Knows: A Guide for Teen Survivors, June 7, 2000
This review is from: The Me Nobody Knows: A Guide for Teen Survivors (Paperback)
This book is an excellent resource for teen survivors of sexual abuse, their parents, teachers, and counselors. I teach 7th through 12th grade adolescents within a state hospital setting. Many of the teens I teach are survivors of sexual abuse, and I have used this book as a resource for them for the past several years. The book is written in very straightforward language and in a readable format. It includes realistic discussions about feelings and easily usable suggestions for dealing with those feelings and other aftereffects of sexual abuse. I feel the authors treat the book's readers with respect and intelligence, never preaching nor talking down to them. Another outstanding book on this topic I also provide in my library for my students is: How Long Does it Hurt? A guide to recovering from incest and sexual abuse for teenagers, their friends, and their families, by Cynthia L. Mather.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not impressed, June 13, 2010

The write up made it appear that the play came with it. I hope this changes so other people don't buy it with the impression that they're getting the play too.
