Editorial Reviews

From the Inside Flap

After spending ten years and thousands of dollars for psychoanalysis, actor Orson Bean was divorced, depressed and dissatisfied with life. Then he discovered medical orgone therapy. Wilhelm Reich, M.D. developed this unique method of treatment which centers on the concept that sensual, sexual feelings must be integrated with tender feelings of love for an individual to achieve complete sexual satisfaction. One must be free of emotional and physical blocks to experience such feelings.

Here is the candid, deeply personal story of Orson's experience with medical orgone therapy and how it triggered his own sexual revolution. Almost immediately he realized that something unusual and quite miraculous was happening. His body began to change. He felt freer and more alive. Orgone therapy transformed Orson--his sexual response, his relationships, his entire life. It brought Orson that great "second chance" for the best life has to offer--something most dream of and so few find.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reichian Primer, January 5, 2010
By
This review is from: Me and the Orgone (Paperback)
Actor Orson Bean's personal account of undergoing Reichian Therapy. Dr. Wilhelm Reich developed a physical process to help loosen the armor (chronic muscular tension) of the body and thereby freeing our natural core feelings: what we really love, value, understand, and in short--who we really are without society's interference. Bean gives his account during the 1960's in New York City with therapist Dr. Ellsworth Baker (author of Man in the Trap), who was trained by Wilhelm Reich. Reichian Therapy brings about a profound change in a person's view of themselves and the world around them. Bean's book is an excellent primer for the individual interested in exploring this alternative psychological therapy.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great introduction to Reich, his ideas and the therapy he developed, August 3, 2011
This review is from: Me and the Orgone (Paperback)
A warm and personal introduction to the subject of Reichian Therapy. Actor Orson Bean tells us how he as a newly divorced single parent discovers the ideas of Wilhelm Reich and his Orgone Therapy and in the process finds love again and starts a school with a vastly different (and probably very superior) approach to teaching.

Orson describes his treatment and how it effects him and transforms his life for the better. This is in contrast to his previous Freudian therapy, which in ten years amounted to no real improvements. We also get a a very accessible introduction to Reich's theories, which will probably be provocative to some of the readers. If so, give some thought to why you are provoced. It might give you some insights.
