I've always loved Katharine Hepburn. In movies and in watching her give the few interviews she's done. In reading this book, I heard her voice speaking throughout. If you are expecting a book written like any other autobiography, you will be disappointed. This book is written as if you are sitting there having a long conversation with a friend about their life. It's jumbled and skips around a lot, but you get the gist of the story she's telling you. Some of the chapters were a bit boring, but then it would pick up again. The most touching story for me was her chapter on Spencer. Thank you Katharine for sharing a piece of your life with us.

I’m a fan of Katharine Hepburn. This book reads just like she’s talking to you and telling you stories from her life. She had very progressive parents and was raised to be independent, strong, athletic and fearless. She went after what she wanted and had great luck. At times she comes off as selfish which she readily admits. There are some tragedies. She’s made mistakes and has a few regrets, but she’s had a fascinating life. She’s had some interesting relationships including Howard Hughes and Spencer Tracy and talks about many of her movies. I enjoy the backstories of movie making and people I admire. I enjoyed this book.~

Katherine Hepburn was (at least for our generation and our parent's) one of the iconic actresses, one of the greats. She had her own style, popularlizing wearing pants, for example, had a scandalous (at that time) long-term relationship with the married Spencer Tracy and made some classic and great films. (My fave happens to be "Lion in Winter. But of course, there are so many better ones.)

This autobiography is episodic and a bit like listening to her abrupt and pointed style of talking. What's interesting especially is reading about her family. There were tragedies, a lot fun, too. She was athletic and strong, a trait that stood her in good stead for a long, productive life. She was always opinionated and headstrong, and for a long time, box-office poison due to a notable film failure. She covers this failure with a good, clear-eyed look at what went wrong.

If you love classic film, and the great actresses like Bette Davis, Vanessa Redgrave and Hepburn, you'll enjoy reading this bio.

I really like Katherine Hepburn's movies and was generally interested in knowing more about her life but I have to say ME really didn't keep my interest. Parts were pretty boring and it was very matter of fact. I would have liked to have read more about her emotions and how life in Hollywood made her as she was. But I suppose the book was a true reflection if her personality which was one of a "just tell it like it is" person who felt emotions were unimportant. She also referred to Spencer Tracey a couple of times but didn't go into any detail until the last chapter and even then she just stated the facts.....not her feelings toward him. For example I would have liked to read about how hard it was to film Guess who's coming to dinner when he was so sick and how that affected her performance ! Again, it was just written as another fact of her life! Not too impressed with the book and lack of feelings!

Interesting story. Tidbits and stories of her professional and personal life. Almost like living in her head. Stay with it through the slower or wordier parts, it is well worth it. An insight into the mind of a complex lady.

Katharine Hepburn was a great actress, but that does not translate to being a great (or even good) writer. This is "stream of consciousness" stuff, put together in sentence fragments and no sense of timeline. I do understand how difficult it can be for a non-writer to put together their memoirs, but I found myself skimming large sections just see if I would find anything interesting. She also gives very few details about some of the parts of her life that have people wondering the most. For instance, she says precious little about her relationship to Spencer Tracy, except to note that he was an exceptional actor and they loved each other. I think we all knew that. The best part of the book was the pictures.

"Me" is exactly what it sound like. This is a very honest and open look at the background behind the Katharine Hepburn we came to love in the movies. The reader is allowed to follow along as she grows up with her very forward looking (for the time period) family. I would have loved to be a neighbor and have access to the Hepburn home. I am not sure I would have wanted to go home at the end of the day. If you are looking for a good book, on any day of the year, be sure to add this one to your collection. The pictures that are scattered throughout the book really give you a great idea about Katharine's family and the houses they lived in. Thank you Katharine for allowing us this glimpse behind the curtain. I know I will enjoy your performances even more now that I know more about you as a human being.

I enjoyed this book, even though it was obviously taken from a diary, as the writing left a lot to be desired.
