5.0 out of 5 stars fabulous for learning letter size & spacing
The tiny tic marks on the lines show kids how big their letters and spaces should be without looking like they've got kindergarten paper. My 6th grader with fine motor difficulties still uses it successfully, and if he doesn't his writing is huge, jumbled, and all over the place. But it looks pretty much like normal paper, so he doesn't get joked on in class.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great tool
We have used the Mead RediSpace Transitional NoteBook paper in our preschool/daycare with great results. The children were immediatly interested in this paper initially because it looked different than what we had been using before. Then it just seemed like they were having an easier time with their early writing excursions. Quite simply, we will keep using this product...

4.0 out of 5 stars Writing Help for Children with Spacing Problems, February 25, 2010
This review is from: Mead RediSpace Transitional NoteBook Paper, Stage 4, 10.5 x 8 Inches, 50 Count (48018) (Office Product)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
There are all kinds of kids out there with writing problems. I know because one of my own children has a vision problem which complicates their fine motor skill problem which leads them to run their words together when they are writing.

This means that I wish we had known about this paper sooner because it's ideal help for spacing for older kids.

You may or may not be able to see it on the photo but there are vertical hash marks that let children know how big their letters should be. And in the case of my child, what the spacing should be between words.

Now the practice paper that I received is Stage 4, and it says for 1st Grade and up. To which I have to say that if it's really intended for first graders then the hash marks are too close together. My son who is in 2nd Grade and who is a pretty good writer couldn't fit his letters into so small a space. So keep that in mind.

Talking Points:::
This is a nice paper similar in weight to standard notebook paper. The lines are 1 centimeter apart; with the vertical letter lines (which I've called hash marks) being 6.5 cm, or 1/4 inches apart. For some writers this spacing is going to be too close. HOWEVER, it's an excellent guide and spacing to 'strive' for.

The paper removes easily and doesn't tear.

Every page has the standard 3-holes.

Every page has a Green Go-line to show children where to start writing; and Red Stop-line to keep them from crowding the edge of the page.

Pages are marked on the front and back.

My 9 year old son has recieved OT for 5 years. We have tried every type of paper known to man(we even went as far as making our own and having it professional bond) to help with spacing issues. This is by far the best, and its the only paper we buy for school and home.

OK, it's just paper, but the spacing of the lines was perfect for my 3rd grade granddaughter. She actually enjoyed using it.

I love this paper. I have a son with Autism and he has major hypotonia issues as well. He has been using this paper and we already see the difference in the size of his letters and spacing.. I did buy mine from Walmart only because it is cheaper. Great product!!!

From both a parent and teacher's perspective....Too often you see children frustrated as they try to write within college ruled lines or you see the child trying to write these HUGE letters on blank paper. The RediSpace paper is awesome! It guides your child to stay within those boundaries! No giant letters that lap over into the margin! My son had a terrible time learning to write and this really helped him out! It's a wonderful tool to add to your child's desk at home!

This is great transitional paper for helping kids learn to write neatly. It is something I would use tons of with my kids if it were a little cheaper!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Tool, But Maybe Not For First Graders, April 28, 2010
This review is from: Mead RediSpace Transitional NoteBook Paper, Stage 4, 10.5 x 8 Inches, 50 Count (48018) (Office Product)

MEAD REDISPACE TRANSITIONAL NOTEBOOK PAPER is a unique tool designed to help kids learn to properly space their letters, words, and sentences. By using evenly spaced vertical hash-marks on standard wide-ruled paper, MEAD REDISPACE TRANSITIONAL NOTEBOOK PAPER can train your child's eyes and fingers to correctly size and space letters within words and sentences.

MEAD REDISPACE TRANSITIONAL NOTEBOOK PAPER is a nice quality, standard sized notebook paper that is ruled on both sides, is three-hole punched, and removes easily and cleanly from the pad. There is a green start line and red stop line on each page to help children learn about proper margins. There are 50 sheets in each notebook.

I gave MEAD REDISPACE TRANSITIONAL NOTEBOOK PAPER to my five year old daughter to try. I have been encouraging her to write smaller and straighter. She has been working on her handwriting for a few weeks now, and we have definitely seen a significant improvement. As an added bonus, she also has a lot more confidence in her writing ability, which is even more important.

Overall, MEAD REDISPACE TRANSITIONAL NOTEBOOK PAPER is a handy tool for helping kids transition from primary, large-scale handwriting paper to regular notebook paper. However, it may be too small for most first graders. Hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills are required to neatly use regular notebook paper. I think that for most children 2nd and 3rd grade is the age where those skills are developed enough to learn to make smaller sized letters and correctly space them. But at whatever age a child is ready, MEAD REDISPACE TRANSITIONAL NOTEBOOK PAPER will help them make the transition more quickly and more easily.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great help for new scribes, March 19, 2010
This review is from: Mead RediSpace Transitional NoteBook Paper, Stage 4, 10.5 x 8 Inches, 50 Count (48018) (Office Product)

On the critical side, the grammatical error on the cover isn't necessary and since my child will look at it every time she opens the pad, actually teaches bad grammar by repetition.
On the positive side, the ruled and sectioned writing paper certainly help my new little scribe order her letters and words uniformly without bunching, stretching, or creeping up or down. In fact she tends to spend more time on letter formation when they are separated this way, improving her results after using for a while. Eventually she'll graduate away from these sheets, but until then, it's a great support page for new scribes.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Idea, but..., March 4, 2010
This review is from: Mead RediSpace Transitional NoteBook Paper, Stage 4, 10.5 x 8 Inches, 50 Count (48018) (Office Product)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
It's just a notebook, so keep in mind that there are not any writing prompts, etc. What I liked about it was the special letter spacing marks. My son knows the difference between capital and lowercase letters, and he is now learning to put together sentences, but he has trouble with spacing. Sometimes it's hard to tell where one word begins and another ends. This allows him to practice his writing with more independence.

If your child writes upper and lowercase letters, but makes them the same size, the little markings also help teach the correct sizing. The margins lines are thicker too, in green on the left & red on the right, so your child is less liekly to write past them.

It's quality paper (too thin for any kind of markers or felt tip pens, though), and bright white with blue lines...just like most notebook paper.

This is Stage 4 (transitional), part of a writing program that includes:
