4.0 out of 5 stars Meade 20 mm Illuminated Reticule Framing Eyepiece, October 21, 2011

This review is from: Meade Plössl 25mm 1.25-Inch Wireless Illuminated Reticle CCD Framing Ocular (Electronics)
I bought this eyepiece for use with my 80mm diameter F/4 achromatic guide/finder scope. One of the frames on the reticule approximates the field of view of my camera on my main telescope. So it is useful to me both for framing and finding guide stars for the guidescope. This is a somewhat different use than it was intended for.

I had been using old Kellner and Erfle eyepieces with this scope for years. The view is much sharper across the field with this Plossl eyepiece. Actually, it really surprised me how much better the view was with this eyepiece, something I had not anticipated. Good to know.

The reticule is sharp and the illuminating light bright but widely adjustable. Battery wear is low, consistent with the use of an LED. Mechanically, it seems to be just fine.

Only bad part was that it arrived with the optics covered with dust. Filthy! Took a while to clean it.
