great starter scope, March 23, 2010
This review is from: Meade Instruments TeleStar NG-60 Refracting Telescope (Electronics)
If you're looking to buy this scope then you are most likely a first time telescope buyer. What to expect: You will be able to see the moon and craters in full detail on nights when the moon is shadowed. Jupiter will appear to be a white dot with smaller white dots. Saturn will be a small yellow dot with ears if you look closely. Star clusters look amazing (look at Orian's knee cap and Pleiads). Mars looks like a red dot and Venus is a blue dot. If you're expecting Hubble images than forget even buying a telescope; not possible. If you're looking to have a universal and humbling experience then fork over the whopping 60$. The mount works okay but is very fragile; I broke mine and have to use a c-clamp to keep it steady now :( Optics are pretty good on a clear night. This thing is hella fun.
