Lemon Pastries

8-oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened
1/2 c. sugar
1 T. lemon juice
2 8-oz. tubes refrigerated crescent rolls

Blend cream cheese, sugar and lemon juice together; set aside. Unroll crescent rolls and divide along perforations into triangles; spread with cream cheese mixture. Fold crescent roll-style; bake on ungreased baking sheets at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Let cool; spoon glaze over the tops before serving. Makes 16.

Glaze:
1/2 c. powdered sugar
1 t. vanilla extract
1 to 2 T. milk

Whisk ingredients together until smooth and creamy.

This is one of the newer Gooseberry patch quick and easy cookbooks. The first was "Quick and Easy" and it really was. The recipes were good too. I've not been too thrilled with this edition - it's almost as if they were more concerned about how much time the meals took to prepare instead of how they taste. By and large, the faster the meal I've found, the lower the scale on taste. So far, I've only gotten two "keepers" out of this recipe book, the rest, well, not so good. I'm pretty disappointed in this one since the first one was so good. I've made almost every recipe in the first one and was looking for some new ones in this one. Oh well, I guess I can go back to making my Southern Living recipes and finding ways to make them faster.

I have made four recipes from this book since purchasing it with a Christmas gift card. All four have gotten a request to "make this again" from my husband, which is very unusual...although, I'll admit, I'm no gourmet. This is Down-Home-Style food, and although many of the recipes call for convenience items (canned chicken, for example) I'm sure they can be modified when time permits.

I'm dying to try several more in this book...they all sound so yummy! I can tell this book won't gather dust on my cookbook shelf. Other tips throughout the book on how to make plain staple foods more delectable.

Very easy to follow, even for a kitchen beginner. The book also gives a "Perfectly Prepared Pantry" list to ease shopping, and a kitchen math list, which tells you how much raw product you need in order to end with a specific prepared amount.

Definitely a winner!

I love this book. I purchased it about 6 years ago and have made almost every recipe within it's cover. The meals are quick, tasty, and I find I still have time for my family after dinner is served and the kitchen cleaned.
This book is divided into the following sections: Market Fresh and Fast, Oodles of Noodles, Hearty in a Hurry, Quick as a Wink, Treats in a Twinkle, Perfectly Prepared Pantry.
The Market Fresh and Fast section is a section built around recipes quick recipes such as Almost Instant Pierogies, Cheesy Spinach Pie, Turkey Bow-Tie Salad, Old Fashioned Vegetable Soup, Easy Hash Brown Potato Casserole, Amish Skillet (which my family loves).
The Oodles of Noodles is my favorite section for the casserole type dishes it contains. Turkey Tetrazzini, Chicken n Bowties, Creamy Chicken Spaghetti, Zesty Primavera Pasta, Easy Cheesy Manicotti, Cajun Chicken Pasta, Mac and Cheese Dinner, Lip Smackin Stuffed Shells, (I LOVE..) BLT Pasta Salad, Crab Fettuccini, Ham and Noodle skillet, Ravioli Casserole, Home style Mac n Cheese, Turkey Stroganoff, Lazy Lasagna, Pizza Pasta Salad, Thai Peanut Noodles, Cincinnati Skillet, only to mention a few.
The Hearty in a Hurry contains recipes for nights you are looking for something a little rib sticking but yet still quick. Super Beef Supper, Easy Mini-Meat Loaves, Sesame Pork Skillet, Pork Schnitzel, Zesty Pizza Casserole, easy Stromboli, Meat Ball Casserole, Veggie Beef Pie, Pork Chop Casserole, Moms Pork Chop Pie, Autumn Pork Chops, Crunchy Ranch Casserole, Pork and Pears, Roast Pork with apple slaw, Pepper Steak Dinner, Zesty Mexican Bake, Cheesy Beef Bake, Cheeseburger Pie, Skillet Enchiladas, Chili-Cornbread Round, Beef Stroganoff, Sour Cream Beef Casserole, pepperoni Calazones, Ham n Green Bean Supper, Cheesy ham Strata, Sloppy Joe Casserole, Salisbury Steak and much more...

Treats in a Twinkle is a section set aside for quick treats. Numerous Cookies, Punch Recipes, brownies, cookie bars, and so forth. This is the one section I will say I have tried very little from, but only because I am not a cookie, or finger type sweets person.
I only need to say that you could never go wrong with this book if you are looking for quick meals. If you are looking for more elegant/difficult type recipes then this book is definitely not what you are looking for. The recipes are simple and are made from most basic staples found in your pantry with maybe one or two unique spices or flavors to make the dish a winner. I really love it. I hope you enjoy as much as I have. AMC
