4.0 out of 5 stars Great Roadhouse Style Blues, March 29, 2002
This review is from: Mean Eighteen (Audio CD)
Ive owned this CD for a number of years and it still [kicks]... If you like your blues with hard strat guitar thats played like it was being manhandled and made to scream the blues, then this is your music. And to think that the songs dont do the man justice compared to his live show. Great beer party blues party music ... if you like Thorogood mixed with some SRV and Jonny Winter thrown in, your gonna love these blues.

Hi Monti,
I love your music and I think you and the Blubinos are great! I would think this even if I didn't know you from way back. (this is NOT written by his mother).

If you enjoy Stevie Ray Vaughn and Chris Duarte you'll love this album. While not quite the virtuoso SRV is, Monti does a great job laying down classic blues/rock.

At first listen I actually thought this was Chris Duarte. Monti's voice and style are almost identical. The guitar work is solid and clean and the backing band is tight. Monti's effects chain is a dead ringer for SRV or Chris Duarte. Most of the rhythms are pretty canned, reminiscent of Chuck Berry, SRV, and Chris Duarte. I particularly enjoyed Shake a Leg Meg, and Purple Heart though. Each had hints of aforementioned influence with a slight twist.

If you like the southern blues style this album is a great buy!
