5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!
Mean Girls is one of my favorite teen movies. I've seen it 4 times already, and I never get sick of it. After seeing the movie for the first time, I went online and researched what songs were in the movie. I found a few songs and downloaded them online. I am so thrilled that they finally came out with an actual soundtrack!

2.0 out of 5 stars Jessica seeking song...
The song that you're looking for IS on the soundtrack. It's Samantha Ronson's "Built This Way." It's played several times throughout the movie. Once when "Cady" is at the field (when she waves at "Aaron"), another when Aaron sees a picture of a younger Cady on an elephant during the party she throws at her house, and again at the dance, however, the tempo of the song has...

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Mean Girls (Audio CD)
Mean Girls is one of my favorite teen movies. I've seen it 4 times already, and I never get sick of it. After seeing the movie for the first time, I went online and researched what songs were in the movie. I found a few songs and downloaded them online. I am so thrilled that they finally came out with an actual soundtrack!
I am disappointed that they didn't have the song Pass the Dutch, by Missy Elliot. This song is played when the Plastics come outside to gym class and Damian and Janis fill Cady in on Regine, Gretchen, and Karen. The soundtrack also doesn't have the song by Janis Ian (hee! that's the name of Cady's friend in the movie) "At 17". This song is played in the background when Cady tries to comfort Karen that she is not dumb.
Here's my review, song by song:

1.Dancing With Myself - The Donnas:: This song is played in the end credits. It is a remake of Billy Idol's version. Pretty good. 7/10

2.God Is A DJ - Pink:: Cool song that is played when all the kids are shown getting ready for the Spring Fling, and in Cady's case, the Mathlete competition. Upbeat song, I often find myself singing along. 8/10

3.Milkshake - Kelis:: A very unique song that has a toe-tapping beat. Some may not like this song, it depends what your taste is. This song is played when the Plastics arrive at Regina's house/mansion with Cady after going shopping. Regina's little sister is seen dancing to the song inside. 7/10

4.Sorry (Don't Ask Me) - All Too Much:: I can't remember this song from the movie..and I have yet to buy the soundtrack.

5.Built This Way - Samantha Ronson:: I believe that this is the song played before Regina pulls up and tells Cady to get in the car. Cady is watching Aaron practice soccer. Also, it is played at the Spring Fling when Damian says "I love this song!" Janis says "I hate this song!" and Cady says "I know this song!" Great beat. 9/10

6.Rip Her To Shreds - Boomkat:: This song is played at the beginning on Cady's first day of school. Pretty good song. Remake of Blondie's original version. 7/10

7.Overdrive - Katy Rose:: One of my favorite songs. This is played in Regina's room when she asks Cady "Do you even know who sings this?" and Cady guesses "The Spice Girls?" and Regina laughs "I love this girl. She's like a Martian!" 10/10

8.One Way Or Another - Blondie:: This is played when Janis and Cady try to ruin Regina's life...Janis cuts two holes in Regina's gym shirt, Cady gives Regina foot cream instead of face cream, etc. This song is very popular, especially in revenge-type movies. Fits well in the movie. 9/10

9.Operate - Peaches:: This song is played at the Halloween party before Regina kisses Aaron. Cool song! 9/10

Songs 10-13 I don't know since, as I said before, I haven't bought the CD yet. I plan on buying it though, ASAP!

14.The Mathlete Rap - Rajiv Surenda:: The character Kevin G. does this silly and amusing rap before the Plastics and Cady go out on stage to do their Jingle Bell rock dance. I wonder if this version is longer on the soundtrack? 7/10

Overall, if you love the movie Mean Girls and the music in it, buy this soundtrack! It's worth it! The only downfall for me was the fact that they didn't have the song "Pass the Dutch". Oh well...

Someone already mentioned that the song at the very end (not on the soundtrack) is Halcyon + On + On. It's by a group named Orbital. *Amazing* track.

You can also find it at the end of the first Mortal Kombat and at the beginning of Hackers :)

Oh, and the movie -- pretty good. A lot better than I thought it was going to be, too.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Mean Girls (Audio CD)
the song at the dance is "Put 'em Up" by N.O.R.E. ft. Pharrell, and the song downstairs during Cady's party is "Fire" by Joe Budden ft. Busta Rhymes, and the song when they're walking down the hallway is "Pass That Dutch" by Missy Elliott. Sucks that they're not on the CD

The song that plays at the end is called:

Song Title: Halcyon & On & On
Group: Orbital

It was actually on the "Hackers" soundtrack from 1996.

That movie kinda sucked, but the soundtrack was awesome. I still listen to it... and that is why I knew the answer to your question!!!!

Once when "Cady" is at the field (when she waves at "Aaron"), another when Aaron sees a picture of a younger Cady on an elephant during the party she throws at her house, and again at the dance, however, the tempo of the song has been slowed down. The uptempo version, so-called, is the version that appears on the soundtrack; perhaps its change in tempo is why you don't recognize it. It's a great song, either way.

4.0 out of 5 stars short and sweet, March 25, 2005

I thought this movie was hilarious; one of the few instances in which the audience would just love to see someone hit by a bus...and then they do!
Quality movie backed up by an equally quality soundtrack. The only reason this isn't getting 5 stars is because it does NOT include the track where the girls are walking towards the camera...turns out, this song is Missy Elliot's 'Pass That Dutch'. Great song with amazing attitude.

2.0 out of 5 stars not the greatest album, February 28, 2005
This review is from: Mean Girls (Audio CD)
alright, honestly this album is a little bit too preppy for my taste. a bit too girly too. the movie was okay. but i'm trying to figure out the one song they are playing in the scene where Lindsay is having a party in her house near the end of the movie; the one song they were playing downstairs. it's some kind of hip-hop song, and honestly, that song was the ONLY reason i bought this cd, and it sux that i didnt find that song on here.

3.0 out of 5 stars buy it for BUILT THIS WAY by SAMANTHA RONSON, February 28, 2007

This review is from: Mean Girls (Audio CD)
BUILT THIS WAY by SAMANTHA RONSON is a captivating song, you can hear it 100 times in a row. I think is the guitar... Anyway, this is a great, great song and it seem that the only way to get it (legally) in CD is buying this soundtrack. The soundtrack is not that bad, I mean you won't get a song as good and magical like Built This Ways but it has some other interesting and lift up songs. It's a crime they didn't include Love Theme by Love Unlimited Orchestra (Barry White) that sounds the first time Cady saw the guy (I forgot his name) she fell in love with. It could have been a great opportunity to maybe gain interest in knowing more about Barry White music. Buying this soundtrack for just this song is a minor sin in comparison with buying the There's Something About Mary soundtrack just for "Mary's Prayer" song...

3.0 out of 5 stars Orbital & Halcyon, June 20, 2006
This review is from: Mean Girls (Audio CD)
I'm old, but you can also find this track on the original "Mortal Kombat" soundtrack as well. That's full of other good old techno as well!!

This is pretty good soundtrack, too, however.

Cheers.
