Book Description

June 18, 2010
First Gulf War Veteran decorated war hero and expert marksman Sebastian Tufts, one of only two survivors of the elite 2-18 Special Operations Team returns home to civilian life plagued by persistent nightmares. In his struggle to return to normalcy he experiences significant setbacks in almost every aspect of his life, in his two failed marriages and subsequent loss of an unrewarding job. This is followed by a nearly fatal encounter with the Cortinas, a Sureno Mexican gang bent on establishing a reputation for extreme violence in order to boost their own gang's reputation among their rivals. As a result of what has befallen him, he emerges as a angry vigilante bent on seeking revenge for the excruciating pain they have inflicted on him and on their many other innocent victims. With the help of a handful of like-minded friends and associates he wages a brutal and calculated war of attrition against one of the many Latino street gangs who plague the streets of Los Angeles

5.0 out of 5 stars Great action packed page turner, October 14, 2010
This review is from: The Mean Streets of LA: Taking Out the Trash (Paperback)
A great action-packed story of reluctant vigilante Sebastian Tufts, First Gulf War Veteran against a tough, mean , murderous gang in LA. This book is a thriller intertwined with much knowledge of what is going on in the gangs of LA. The book is a page turner that you won't want to put down until you are finished. Suspense, intrigue, and action delicately woven in a great novel. A must read, you won't be disappointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars Actioned Packed Thriller!, November 29, 2011
This review is from: The Mean Streets of LA: Taking Out the Trash (Paperback)
This book is an excellent classic to add to the shelves of all action and suspense thriller book lovers! It's inevitably the master product of keen imagination and of focused research. Roger D. Walker does an excellent job bringing this book to life with an action packed and suspense filled storyline that will leave you turning the pages with anticipation. Far greater than the story itself is the heart behind the writer. It's a great book, written for an even greater cause! I highly recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars aaaaannnnndddd ACTION!, April 21, 2011
This review is from: The Mean Streets of LA: Taking Out the Trash (Paperback)
Remember that series of movies about the substitute teacher that was really a semi-retired mercenary come to set things straight? Or any of the Dirty Harry movies? Do you like it when the good guy wins and do you like it even more when the good guy really isn't all that different from you and me?

Roger Walker has created a believable story of street gang violence that permeates newspapers and the evening news in many places in America. The War Vet hero of the story doesn't receive a hero's welcome, in fact, he's barely making it. He returns home to discover the kind of violence he thought he left behind at the end of his military career. And when the going gets tough, well the tough gets his butt kicked. But then later on... well, maybe the book is following a formula of sorts and you can guess how it turns out. Still, it's a great book, full of action and intrigue and just enough humor to relieve the tension when it's needed. It's a smart book too...check out Roger's Bio, this guy has a heck of a resume!

Finally, notice that a significant portion of the proceeds are going to a great cause. I checked it out; it's legit. So is the book!
