What can I say it grew on me very fast and is now a favorite. I can't wait for them to come out with another album !

Hard to say enough about this band. Killer harmonies, great songs. Some songs are immediately likeable and the rest start to stick out after one or two listens (always the mark of a quality album). Keep it up DD. Saw you guys at Capitol Garage in Sacramento and really enjoyed the show!

buy this, and try to buy thier other 2 cd's. If you can't find them, try to download them, their worth it

Like earlier reviews have stated, this album grew on me quickly. Very likeable songs with bizzare lyrics, and an undescribeable appeal. My only complaint would be that the album is too short. But expect to hear more from these guys.

Many albums have a few great songs. Mean Way In is great from start to finish. the songs are arranged well, with a beginning, a peak, and tapering off at the end. I've listened to this whole album about a hundred times, and I am very choosy what music I listen to. Mean Way In is often on my headphones that keeps me energized while I am writing textbooks for hours at a time. In the same "upbeat" playlist I have B-52s, Blur, Cake, Chemical Brothers, Coldplay, Division Day, Gang of Four, Phantom Planet, Pinback, Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Secret Machines, Smoosh (who we saw in Seattle), Stereolab, Team Sleep, West Indian Girl, and Yes, on random play.

The other two Division Day albums don't seem to have that same mood, energy, or completeness that Mean Way In has. I had their second album and I wanted to love it, but I sold it used. I just listened to the amazon preview of their third album and I wasn't impressed.

I'm 46. My daughter dragged me to see Division Day in downtown Phoenix at The Modified in 2005. We danced the whole time and bought Mean Way in, their first album, and listened to it over and over. We saw them about a year later and they played music from their second album, which I didn't find as danceable, but they did a nice encore of "worker sleeper" from Mean Way In (their first album), they played an extended version that was the most fun I had dancing that whole year. These guys deserve your money--buy it new or download it!

The band has excellent presence. I remember kind friendliness coming from the three backing fellows, the kind of guys you would want for friends. The singer is different: he's passionate, deep, driven. Which makes for a great show, if you ever get the chance!

And guys? If you read this, please make more music like on Mean Way In--I'll buy every CD you make that even comes close.
