The Meanest Doll in the World,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Meanest Doll in the World (Hardcover)
This is a colorful book! It is great for parents to read to their kids. And for kids to read themselves. I am halfway through the book and I think it is just as good as 'The Doll People'. Ann M. Martin has also written excellent books for 10-14 years olds, such as A Corner of the Universe and Belle Teal! Read them as soon as possible!

The Meanest Doll In The World,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Meanest Doll in the World (Hardcover)
Once upon a time there were two dolls. Their names were Annabelle and Tiffany. Annabelle was a doll that was made of fine china. Tiffany was a Funcrafts doll. She had snap on clothes and could be dipped in water while Annabelle couldn't. They lived in the same house ,but had different owners. Annabelle's owner was Kate Palmer, and Tiffany's owner was Nora Palmer. Kate was 9 years old and in the 4th Grade. Her sister, Nora was 5 years old and in Kindergarten. The two dolls had many adventures together.
Annabelle and Tiffany were the two main characters in this story. Annabelle was a doll that thought about things and asked many questions. Tiffany, on the other hand, was one that liked to take chances and do things quickly. They were best friends! A conflict in this story was when the main characters got lost in Kate and Nora's school. Another conflict was when Annabelle and Tiffany went into the wrong book bag at the school and ended up in the wrong house meeting a very mean doll named Princess Mimi. The last conflict was that people couldn't see the dolls moving or they would get Doll State (a temporary or permanent state when they can no longer move). The way they resolved these conflicts was by defeating Princess (Mean) Mimi. She got PDS (Permanent Doll State) when Nora saw her jumping from the bookcase. The way they got out of the school was by climbing back into Kate's book bag. The way they could move without being seen was by moving during the night and when no one was home. My opinion of the book is that it is very detailed and creative. It was very cool how the dolls had adventures and stuff. It's like they were real people. I would recommend this book to others.

We really enjoyed this book in my household! I thought it was a terrific children's book that even I, the adult, thoroughly enjoyed. I had tried to read it to the kids one chapter a night, but was always begged to continue after a chapter had ended. Too often I caved in and read another, because I wanted to know how what happened next too. I thought the illustrations were excellent, and I know the kids sure loved looking at the pictures! If you haven't read the first book, don't worry. We certainly didn't, and had no trouble understanding or enjoying this wonderful book!

AWARD WINNING READING,
This review is from: The Meanest Doll in the World (Audio Cassette)
Just the name Lynn Redgrave brings to mind the resonant sound of her inimitable voice. It is used to full advantage in this thoroughly satisfying reading, especially in the voice of Mean Mimi who sees herself as the Queen of All Dolls. As they go, aspirations are fine, but Mean Mimi does carry them to extremes. In this enchanting sequel to The Doll People, those rascals Annabelle Doll and Tiffany Funcraft are up to mischief once more. As luck would have it the pair find themselves in Kate's backpack on their way to school. This is an adventure! Once out of the backpack they discover they are in a very strange world. Putting their initial trepidation aside they decide to explore this new territory. Not a good idea because when they try to go home they find wind up in the wrong house! The up side of this is that they make many new doll friends. The down side is that they also run into the formidable Mean Mimi. Now, just how are this adventurous duo ever going to find their way home and the safety of their doll house? Listen and see. - Gail Cooke

The Meanest Doll in the World,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Meanest Doll in the World (Paperback)
Have you ever read a book where dolls come alive at night when everybody is asleep. We'll here it is, part 2 of the doll people.
This book is about Annabell and Tiffany, two dolls and their Aunt Sarah. They go on a hunt to find interesting things. When all of a sudden the mom of the house wakes up ....... what if she discovers them walking around the house? It would mean that they turn into regular, lifeless plastic dolls. The question throughout the book is whether the dolls get back safely to their doll house or get caught and lose their special gift of life? I recommend this book to kids ages 8 through 13, however, this book can be read by anyone because it is a good book. This book has detailed illustrations of the doll house and each doll. You can also get your own "Meanest doll in the world" by calling the number in the book and ordering the doll. -Nicole, 12

Fun and suspenseful story!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Meanest Doll in the World (Hardcover)
The Meanest Doll in The World; an interesting and hard to put down book that kids and adults can enjoy!
Something I thought that added interest to the The Meanest Doll in The World was the neat illustrations. In the beginning of the book, the pictures pull you into the story. There is a page from a catalog, the dollhouse, a portrait of Mean Mimi and scribbles by Mean Mimi. Also, the drawings are very appealing because they show what the story is saying and they helped me see the characters. Even though Mimi is uncaring, she adds intrigue and humor to the story. I enjoyed The Meanest Doll in the World, and I hope that if you decide to read this book or The Doll People that you like it as much as I did.

A Must Read Book For Every Kid of Any Age,
This review is from: The Meanest Doll in the World (Hardcover)
This was the delightful sequel to The Doll People. Both of these books are so incredibly imaginative that the characters almost spring to life as you read the book.
Annabelle Doll and Tiffany Funcraft are two best friends who do everything together. Annabelle is the timid one of the two friends, where as Tiffany is the adventurous one. These two dolls work together to solve any problem that comes their way. When Annabelle and Tiffany find themselves trapped in Kate's backpack, after staying out too long on an expedition to the attic, they find a whole new world open up before them. It is their first trip to the OUTSIDE since arriving at Kate and Nora's house. In the incredible expedition that occurs due to the dolls being in Kate's backpack, the dolls make new friends as well as meet Princess Mimi, otherwise known as Mean Mimi. Mean Mimi is a threat to all of dollkind. It is left to Annabelle and Tiffany to figure out how to stop her. This book is the perfect book to read for you or aloud to anyone. The illustrations really make the book come alive. Children will enjoy seeing the pictures as they read or listen to the book.

The Greatest Book in the World!!!!!!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Meanest Doll in the World (Hardcover)
After reading The Meanest Doll in the World, I was unable to look at my dolls in my doll house the same way again. True, dolls are not alive, but one can never know. The only thing that may be scary to a younger age group is the thought of a horrifying doll walking around a house plotting disasterous schemes to jepordize not only herself but all of her kind. That kind of frightened me but I remebered that dolls are not alive and if a doll did something to me it wouldn't be all that harmful. So, as you can see, The Meanest Doll in the World is a great book that shows how even dolls can work together to conquer an evil villian and shows the meaning of friendship between Annabelle and Tiffany, two of the dolls in this book.
