5.0 out of 5 stars Great Music from a Great City
On the Last Days debut album Meaning in the Static is a great debut album. If you like fast paced rock/screamo you should check out this cd. I think that 3 of the members of the band scream/sing so the vocals never get old. If you get the chance get Wars Like Whispers by On the last day. It only has 6 songs but it is equally as good.

3.0 out of 5 stars Its good, but....
Dont get me wrong, this cd is catchy as hell. Along with that, the vocalist is VERY talented. Also, the first song has a wonderful drumline, but, the problem is, they use it in every song throughout the whole album. The only differences were a slight change of tempo in some, and an extra beat here and there in others. Great Lyrics, good guitar work, WONDERFUL singing but...

Also, the first song has a wonderful drumline, but, the problem is, they use it in every song throughout the whole album. The only differences were a slight change of tempo in some, and an extra beat here and there in others. Great Lyrics, good guitar work, WONDERFUL singing but the drumming distracts me and forces me to give this a lower grade than the rest of it deserves.

I hope the drumming improves on the next album.

1.0 out of 5 stars People actually listen to this music 'for enjoyment?', March 6, 2011
This album is so bad that it is beyond description... well actually, it's not really bad as just completely void of any quality. I have to admit that I am not the worlds greatest fan of death metal, but even I could tell you that the vocals have absolutely no life in them. The screams are completely dull, the 'soft' vocals are equally hollow. There is not one single melody or moment on this album (ok, maybe 1, but that's about all) where there is any life or passion or inspiration or anything. Just ripping off the cliches of other bands in the last ten to fifteen years.

Even more so, every song from beginning to end is the same, supposedly angst-riddled, the same fake-downbeat feeling permeates all the way through. There is simply no change of pace for the listener. The album is poorly arranged/produced, the vocals sloppy, it's often very hard to understand what is being said, although it would probably be something like 'ooh I feel so bad inside, everyone's picking on me'.

Hard to say that it is a bad album, nothing offensive, and, actually, there are some nice vocal harmonies towards the end of the last song, a kind of ray of light after a long tunnel of darkness. Rating? 0.10/5.00, or 1/50.

2.0 out of 5 stars Little better than static.., April 15, 2007

On the Last Day has a very refined, good quality sound. There is good energy and the intro is actually pretty catchy. The screaming is not overdone and sounds good as well.

Unfortunately for us everything on this album has been done more than once to say the least. It is overall incredibly generic with little variation from beginning to end.

If you want the standard upstart post-hardcore sound for some background music then it doesn't get much better than this. Otherwise I would definitely not recommend this cd. Hopefully this band wakes up and sees whats going on around them because they have a lot of talent going to waste.

4.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining, August 29, 2006
I generally dont get into screamo, but i would really hardly call this a screamo offering so its ok.
Melodic vocals with a more traditional punk beat than most of the s.hit being served up today.
Very impressive debut!!
