5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, simply amazing, June 10, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: It Means Everything (Audio CD)
Save Ferris is not only one of the best ska bands out there, but one of the best bands period. I first heard the very familiar sounding Come on Eileen on a cleveland radio station in sept 1997, and I was hooked. I recognized Monique's vocals from the song She has a girlfriend now(Reel big fish, another great ska band)Save Ferris showed me that music can, and should be fun. these songs will make you sing, dance, and laugh out loud. They do a brilliant cover of come on eileen, and the song spam is really funny. I could relate to a lot of these songs, especially under 21. Superspy is also a swingin' song. Buy this Cd first, rather than mainstream ska bands such as the Bosstones and No Doubt(even though theyre both really good)

5.0 out of 5 stars Save Ferris?! They're grrrrrrreat!, June 21, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: It Means Everything (Audio CD)
Ah man, I was shopping one day and this great song came on over the loud speakers at the store. Bosstones? Nah, a girl singer. No Doubt? Nope, this girl had a much better voice. I was really gettin into it so I asked the clerk what the CD was. He told me it was Save Ferris. I immediately went out and bought it, and the rest is history! I have had the CD over a year, and it is still one of my favorites! The terrific brass section, fabulous guitar and rhythm, and amazing voice of Monique Powell combine for an awesome mix that never gets old! And it is so fun to sing along with! I recommend this album to anyone: Ska lovers and those who think that ska is a sport in the winter olympics! I am counting the days till their next album comes out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Save Ferris: Remember the Name, May 7, 2000
This review is from: It Means Everything (Audio CD)
I discovered Save Ferris because, basically, I asked a friend if she knew about some Ska music I haven't heard of yet. Now, after countless spins of this album, there's one more thing in my world of pink-haired girls named Gwen, Reelly Big Fishes, a finger that's gold, some mighty mighty dudes from Boston, and some dubbing allstars from Long Beach. Save Ferris is, quite frankly, gorgeous in every way. Their sound, the horns, Monique Powell's magnificent voice, everything about SF screams one thing:UNDERATED! This, their debut, is more ska than their newest effort, Modified. First Off, I can't understand how anybody COULDN'T like their cover of Come On Eilien. It's great, one of my fav covers of all time. There's many good tracks. In fact, you won't have to press that evil skip button. But, we all have favorites. Besides Come On Eilien, my two other favs are The World is New, and Goodbye. The World is New is just fast, quick, and fun. If you don't find yourself moving to this track, you have no soul. As for Goodbye, it's rich, long, and just so well put together. The horns are driving and powerful, the lyrics are great, monique's voice is husky and strong, and it's easily up there with Don't Speak and Santeria as great SKA-ballads. if ya like ska, and like fun, discover the magic of Save Ferris.
