5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, simply amazing
Save Ferris is not only one of the best ska bands out there, but one of the best bands period. 3.0 out of 5 stars Good sound, wrong timing.
It Means Everything by ska/punk band Save Ferris was their debut but unfortantely the magic didn't last for long. The band broke-up in 2002, ska was good music but you knew this kind of genre would not last long. Monique Powell sure had the lungs on such tracks like The World is New, Spam, Goodbye My Friend, Lies, and Come on Eileen. This album fades with time, too bad...

I recognized Monique's vocals from the song She has a girlfriend now(Reel big fish, another great ska band)Save Ferris showed me that music can, and should be fun. these songs will make you sing, dance, and laugh out loud. They do a brilliant cover of come on eileen, and the song spam is really funny. I could relate to a lot of these songs, especially under 21. Superspy is also a swingin' song. Buy this Cd first, rather than mainstream ska bands such as the Bosstones and No Doubt(even though theyre both really good)

5.0 out of 5 stars Save Ferris?! They're grrrrrrreat!, June 21, 1999

This review is from: It Means Everything (Audio CD)
Ah man, I was shopping one day and this great song came on over the loud speakers at the store. Bosstones? Nah, a girl singer. No Doubt? Nope, this girl had a much better voice. I was really gettin into it so I asked the clerk what the CD was. He told me it was Save Ferris. I immediately went out and bought it, and the rest is history! I have had the CD over a year, and it is still one of my favorites! The terrific brass section, fabulous guitar and rhythm, and amazing voice of Monique Powell combine for an awesome mix that never gets old! And it is so fun to sing along with! I recommend this album to anyone: Ska lovers and those who think that ska is a sport in the winter olympics! I am counting the days till their next album comes out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Save Ferris: Remember the Name, May 7, 2000
This review is from: It Means Everything (Audio CD)
I discovered Save Ferris because, basically, I asked a friend if she knew about some Ska music I haven't heard of yet. Now, after countless spins of this album, there's one more thing in my world of pink-haired girls named Gwen, Reelly Big Fishes, a finger that's gold, some mighty mighty dudes from Boston, and some dubbing allstars from Long Beach. Save Ferris is, quite frankly, gorgeous in every way. Their sound, the horns, Monique Powell's magnificent voice, everything about SF screams one thing:UNDERATED! This, their debut, is more ska than their newest effort, Modified. First Off, I can't understand how anybody COULDN'T like their cover of Come On Eilien. It's great, one of my fav covers of all time. There's many good tracks. In fact, you won't have to press that evil skip button. But, we all have favorites. Besides Come On Eilien, my two other favs are The World is New, and Goodbye. The World is New is just fast, quick, and fun. If you don't find yourself moving to this track, you have no soul. As for Goodbye, it's rich, long, and just so well put together. The horns are driving and powerful, the lyrics are great, monique's voice is husky and strong, and it's easily up there with Don't Speak and Santeria as great SKA-ballads. if ya like ska, and like fun, discover the magic of Save Ferris.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun Ska CD, Great Singing, October 29, 2006

Save Ferris along with Reel Big Fish are a couple major benefactors in Ska second (but limited) revival. For the most part the songs are uptempo, the horn's great, but what really makes this album is Monique's great singing ability. Look beyond 'Come on Eileen' there are many great tunes here like the 'Spam' a modern day ska classic. Also, check out the video included on the cd with a great little cut from one of their live shows. I highly recommned this album. If you are looking for other additions to your ska library, check out Bop Harvey's get album Bread and Circus.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good songs, but not quite enough..., September 18, 1999
This review is from: It Means Everything (Audio CD)
I loved Spam and Superspy and it's not like those songs you like for a week and then can't stand. I play the trombone and love the brass and Mo is one of the better female vocalists that I've heard. Also, the awesome songs are all different. Completely different from the others. The problam is that it's got the good songs (Spam, Superspy, Come on Eileen) and the OK songs (like Goodbye), but then (on a ska CD) You've got slow songs. But the good songs make up for it.

Paul Frost (Alton, Hampshire United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
Its not very day in my quest for a ska band as good as reel big fish that i find a strong contender. when i first heard save ferris i was hit by a ripping horn section and was carried through the song 'The World Is New' by the stunning vocals of Monique 'you can call me Mo' Powell. this is a truly amazing album that brings a smile to your face with songs such as 'Spam' (its made in Chernobyl) and makes you want to dance and skank to the incredible cover of 'Come On Eileen' - buy it and be amazed. 5.0 out of 5 stars Save Ferris is SO Awesome!, May 6, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: It Means Everything (Audio CD)
This is one of my three favorite CDs of all time! Save Ferris' music has such energy and life! I just purchased this CD about a month ago, but had wanted it for about a year. Every single song is great with maybe the exception of "Lies." My favorite track is either "Come On Eileen" or "Everything I Want To Be." While I'm not the biggest fan of ska, I am a huge fan of Save Ferris. If YOU'RE not into ska - BUY THIS CD - it will change your mind!

5.0 out of 5 stars a great cd, February 26, 2000
This review is from: It Means Everything (Audio CD)
This cd is excellent. Monique Powell has the coolest voice and the backround music sounds really good too. All the songs are good.. some are a little bit better than others, but none of them could even pass as "bad". I highly recommend this cd, and if you heard Modified first for some reason, don't let it mislead you because this cd is much better.
