Not The Party's best...but has some gems., June 7, 2005
"In the Meantime, In Between Time" was released to tide fans over until The Party's "official" second album "Free" could be released. It kicks off with a bang, with a techno-infused cover of Dokken's "In My Dreams" which was The Party's biggest hit. Covers of "Private Affair," "I Know What Boys Like," "My Generation," and "Spiders and Snakes" also feature, with varying degrees of success, but their cover of "Peace, Love and Understanding" is their greatest track. They capture the songs feeling and it's message perfectly, bringing it squarely into the 1990s, and it still works today, more than ten years later. The rest of the album is basically remixes of tracks off their first album, and "Adult Decision" which was the B-Side of their "That's Why" single. While the originals are great tracks, the remixes are slightly less than thrilling. "Sugar is Sweet" loses it, erm, sweetness, and "Adult Decision" is just messy (the original was much better.) All in all, not a bad listen. I was crazy about this CD when it came out in 1991, but over time, I find myself more drawn to their other three releases, especially "The Party's Over...Thanks for Coming."

Flashback to my youth, October 22, 2011
This was one of my favorite cassettes back in the 90's! Unfortunately iTunes doesn't carry ANY of The Party but luckily Amazon had quite a few sellers with this and other gems of my youth. Yeah its the safe bubble gum pop you would expect from a group of teens from the MMC but it was good music, Deedee has some of the best vocals I have heard and I find it hard to believe she never found a solo career! Definitely a worthy investment for a fan of early 90's teen pop!

I listened to this until it practically warped, October 21, 2011
Seeing that they are charging $100 to $450 for copies of The Party's first two albums, I'm now regretting throwing away my audio cassettes. The intention was to just download on iTunes (which you can't) or buy CD versions. How are they not on iTunes!?! This was the "it" boy/girl band of the early '90s. All four of their albums, particularly the first 3 I listened to obsessively for pretty much all of the early to mid '90s. It's too bad they did not blow up as big as New Kids on the Block, which was Disney's goal for them, 'cause they certainly were a lot of fun to watch and listen to. The catchy hits, sung by Dee Dee Magno were usually my faves. My favorite Tiffani songs were on the first album, and unfortunately they did not hand her many of the fun songs in the later albums. I think the only songs I didn't care for were the random Chase folk songs that never seemed to go along with the album. He has a decent voice, but he just did not have the range of Albert Fields, and it was a little weird when he would do an acoustic track that featured his vocal warbling / acrobatics. With contrast to grunge rock of the '90s, The Party was one of the few bright spots of the era and probably one of my few musical, fond memories.
