5.0 out of 5 stars Measuring the Night: Evolutionary Astrology Volume One
A feast for the mind and the soul! I learned more from it than any astrology book I've read in the past twenty years. Highly recommended! Forrest and Green are great astrologers and great teachers. Their different personalities make for a lively read, because the book's based on lectures they did seperately and together. I especially loved the part where they teamed up to...

2.0 out of 5 stars A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!
I remember being very excited when I heard that Steven Forrest and Jeff Green were teaming up to write an astrology book together--well, at least, to put together a two-volume collection of their seminar transcripts! What a let-down! With the exception of a few tid-bits of interesting information, most of the material contained within volume one of this book is...

A feast for the mind and the soul! I learned more from it than any astrology book I've read in the past twenty years. Highly recommended! Forrest and Green are great astrologers and great teachers. Their different personalities make for a lively read, because the book's based on lectures they did seperately and together. I especially loved the part where they teamed up to analyze the same birthchart, but the whole book is so full of wisdom that any page can teach you something.

5.0 out of 5 stars Five Stars Aren't Enough, July 23, 2001

This review is from: Measuring the Night: Evolutionary Astrology and the Keys to the Soul, Volume One (Paperback)
These two books, Measuring the Night Vols. 1 and 2, are some of the best that astrology has to offer. They're great for beginners as well as experienced astrologers. Forrest's and Green's personalities and ideas shine through, and what ground-breaking ideas they are! Here are two people saying that WE are in charge of our destinies, that WE can make the choices that define our lives. Simple, but not simplistic: easy to read, hard to do.

5.0 out of 5 stars Groundbreaking thought!, March 24, 2000
By

This review is from: Measuring the Night: Evolutionary Astrology and the Keys to the Soul, Volume One (Paperback)
As a student of astrology (of increasing seriousness over 25 years), I feel that in the last ten or so years there has been what can only be termed a renaissance in the art/craft/science. From a discipline that has lain dormant (if not moribund) for the last two hundred years (save for the handful of sacred practitioners who have kept it alive), there is now an explosion of new thought, new techniques, and new direction, the likes of which have never been seen. Just as the human condition is substantively different now from two hundred years ago, so too is there arising a new astrology to not simply address these changes, but to guide them.

MEASURING THE NIGHT is not only a chronicle, but a herald of this momentous new movement. I am long familiar with Steven Forrest's work as he has emerged as a thought-leader through his SKY trilogy and other works (notably, his BOOK OF PLUTO). Jeff Green is someone I know by his sterling reputation and whose work comes as a welcome addition to my studies.

Though this work is termed "evolutionary astrology", this adjective should not be confused with mere (mere!) Darwinism; "enlightened and mystical" rings closer to me. The year 2000 may be the BC/AD demarkation in the evolution from medieval to modern astrology and this book is surely the watershed event.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Inspiration, March 30, 2000

Although I do not have a background in astrology, I was happily surprised to find that the language and ideas in this book were expressed so well that even I got it! I found Steven Forrest's compassion and insights inspiring. His theories on woundedness and the evolution of the soul gave me a fresh perspective on the dynamics of reincarnation. I could not put this book down.

5.0 out of 5 stars From the Mouths of Giants, March 18, 2000
This review is from: Measuring the Night: Evolutionary Astrology and the Keys to the Soul, Volume One (Paperback)
Steven Forrest has singlehandedly changed my life throught his unique insight and fable-like wisdom that pours freely from each of his books. In this latest one, he and Jeff Green made me feel like the perpetual student I am; they opened me up to facets of the language I didn't even know existed...one of the most treasued gifts I feel we can share with others. "MTN" is a collection of seminars incredibly well organized, beautifully transcribed, full of wit, insight, and wisdom, all delivered in a most readable and thought provoking way. Another instant classic from these great authors.

This is chock full of profound astrological insights delivered through the vehicle of the virtual seminar. The reader actually feels like they were among the privileged few who attended these landmark sessions.

Steven Forrest is a masterful speaker and author. He is also a champion of the cause of evolutionary astrology- one of the best tools any seeker on a spiritual path can access to discover their soul's intent. Measuring the Night forwards this effective technique through the collaboration of these two innovative astrologers.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best, March 26, 2007
This review is from: Measuring the Night: Evolutionary Astrology and the Keys to the Soul, Volume One (Paperback)
This is the best book I have ever read on Astrology. How refreshing! I had stopped reading or really being interested in Astrology, until my daughter recommended this book to me. It is a good thing to know that old forms are being explored for new content. With this approach, Astrology can be a really powerful tool which will aid many to a deeper understanding of self in relation to this life. Hooray!!

This book kept my interest from start to finish. Steven Forrest is one of my favorite authors and this book was no exception. It is provocative and thoughtful. This book is made up of transcripts from a conference. You really feel like the authors are right there talking to you.

I remember being very excited when I heard that Steven Forrest and Jeff Green were teaming up to write an astrology book together--well, at least, to put together a two-volume collection of their seminar transcripts! What a let-down! With the exception of a few tid-bits of interesting information, most of the material contained within volume one of this book is worthless--at least to me. And it's a shame, because Steven Forrest is such a great astrological author. As for Jeff Green, although his Pluto book is pretty impressive, I've never really LIKED him as an author--too pompous, and way to wordy! Why Steven Forrest ever decided to team-up with this guy I'll never know! Save your money, folks, and pass this book by. Oh, by the way: stay away from volume 2, because it's even WORSE!
