This review is from: Meat Loaf - Hits Out of Hell (DVD)
This DVD rocks. I received it as a birthday. It gives you 3 music videos and some live videos, but the audio is studio recorded. Meat Loaf's passion is amazing! Really observe each line when he sings into the camera. The songs you hear from BAT OUT OF HELL (4 of them) were recorded on a 30x30 feet platform approx, and it all fits. Each musician is so passionate. Thats what the music and artist is about, passion and theatrics.
The song from DEAD RINGER, an underrated Meat Loaf album, capture a very similar idea... different place, and more theatric again. The music videos are different... More Than You Deserve is really Soap Opera-ish. Taking place in a trucker restraunt, little bit of sweet acting through out and near the end we hear Meat speak to the little lady behind the counter... pretty good, even if not a hardcore rock song. more of a ballad, and a killer one. Razor's Edge, one of the first songs Meat sing not written by Steinman. A really good song, especially live. The video is really weird, but good weird. Its like government goes into your mind or something. I can't really put my finger on it, its like a mini mini movie. the other video IF YOU REALLY WANT TOO, a nicely written track, about this girl whose seducing all these young men in the town. kind of like a dark 80's video... not too dark, almost like a classic vampyric story ;o) *hint hint* **If You Really Want Too** and ** Razor's Edge** come from a very lesser known and really good Meat Loaf album "Midnight at the Lost and Found" -only problem, is the vocals... but its good. i gave this a four cause its amazing, but it misses some really rare music videos, and the sound quality is great, but i'd like to hear some booming stuff. afterall this came from a 1992 VHS tape released just before Meat Loaf's (to the record company) come back record "BAT OUT OF HELL 2" i hope to see a dvd in future with all the music videos and other stuff, but for now, there's this hit. i urge any music fan to buy this and\or the new dvd! Would Be Five Stars But For One Thing,
This review is from: Meat Loaf - Hits Out of Hell (DVD)
This DVD and the VHS that was released years ago are great. You get all of Meat Loaf's music videos from his first three albums, except the Dead Ringer for Love video. This video is notable because the song is a duet with Cher and Cher fans have been wanting good quality copies of that video for years. Not to mention the Meat Loaf fans who also want it. Even without that video, the DVD is a great buy and a must have for all Meat Loaf fans. I just hope that eventually we get a DVD for the videos from the albums, Bad Attitude, Blind Before I Stop, Bat Out of Hell 2 and Welcome to the Neighborhood.

I can't help but think that even Meat cracks up when watching some of these videos. Don't get me wrong, Meat Loaf blasts out the songs with his remarkable voice and the DVD is absolutely enjoyable... I just kinda get the same feeling I get when looking back at my old high school yearbook. Listen to the music, listen to him sing the words. Meat Loaf is an incredible, and enduring talent.

one of the things i like about meatloaf is that he puts a lot of feelings and drama into his music and videos. sometimes i feel like i'm watching opera when i see him perform, either on video or live performance. it is absolutely wonderful!

Almost everything I expected, but I missed "Dead Ringer for Love" together with Cher.
I had this one on videotape, and I'm pretty sure that one was included. But I love this dvd anyway!!

Hits Out of Hell is fifty-eight minutes and was released on VHS on June 4, 1991. Of the nine songs in this video only three are actual videos the others six are Meat Loaf and his band performing on stage. This would have been better if it was a live concert video. The three videos that look like a mini movie are Razor's Edge, More than You Deserve, and If You Really Want To. The making of the three videos look like it was done at Low Budget Studios. The video covers the time period of 1978 through 1983. Die hard Meat Loaf fans will love and others like will be left wanting more. Hits Out of Hell gets a B+.

This video is EXCELLENT! The sound is good, the videos are classic, a very enjoyable way to enjoy an hour. This brings back the days of when MTV was worth watching, and musicians played with heart. Worth purchasing!

This is a great compilation of Meatloaf's videos through the late 1980s. One has to love the melodramatic character of Meatloaf's performances and songs. The fun he has with both the music and performance comes through clearly. Watching this DVD is an hour well spent.
