Hi, I am a Dietitian and Writer. I believe in eating natural, organic foods for healthy mind and body. I learned cooking skills alongside a chef at Loma Linda and my mom. 
I am a nutrition counselor through my online business FireworkNutrition.com, and the online company FitQuickly.com. My articles are featured on the online newsmagazine Elhaam.org, and at Loma Linda University's Health Behavior Department. Also, I contribute to California Dietetic Association's YouTube Channel, and present Nutrition information throughout Southern California. 
I studied Nutrition at Columbia University and Loma Linda University, and got my Bachelor's at UCLA. I have provided nutrition care in all areas of health, including outpatient clinics, WIC clinics, acute care hospitals, and long term care homes. I have cared for people of all ages and cultures.

consider giving up meat. But after having read Shireen Hakim's book I am reconsidering the way I eat. Or to be more precise, how much I eat of various ingredients. So even if I won't give up meat completely I will swap the meat a couple of times during the week and make a serious effort to eat differently, more veggies to become even more healthy And feel more energized.
Yes, this beautiful little cookbook is indeed filled with nutritious facts and healthy recipes. Make sure you won't miss it!

Most people these days know the importance of eating more veg, so even if they're not vegetarian or vegan, they're still looking for ways to introduce some delicious meat-free meals into their lives. The problem, though, is that it can be hard for some people to know whether or not vegetarian meals are actually balanced. That's why this book is fantastic, because Shireen is a registered dietitian. Not only are the recipes in this book delicious, but you know they're also healthy!

This book is simple, and easy to follow and that is the best part. It gives recipes that don't require a dozen ingredients so that in small steps, you can start switching out meat recipes for non-meat ones. For me, somebody who does love meat but knows it may be healthy to cut some out, and also sometimes feel bad about eating so much meat in a world of factory farming -- this is an easy to follow book that is well worth its price. It's such a low price, it can't hurt to try!

This is my kind of book on a couple of levels. 1st the recipes are very tasty! 2nd I am not the best cook but I am trying to get healthier and these are easy to make recipes....I like to try new recipes from different types of diets. The bonus is these are healthy recipes with tips of how to eat to keep your metabolism working the best through out the day! I enjoyed this book and can't wait to try all the recipes.

I was so excited to see a cookbook that provided healthy protein alternatives to meat, as I wanted to cut back on my meat consumption but wasn't quite sure how. Plus, these recipes are fast and simple to make, which is always a plus. I think it is a great book for someone looking to change their eating habits but not quite sure what to do.

Try some of the recipes out! They are delicious! I definitely learned a few things from reading this book. I'm not the biggest meat eater, but I do eat meat, so don't walk past it just because you can't do without a hunk of meat in every bite of food you eat, lol.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I first downloaded this but I am glad I did. The author begins with an introduction of why she wrote the book and the nutritional benefits to "swapping meat" out of your diet. The recipes are concise, easy to follow, and delicious. They are broken down into breakfast, lunch, and dinner recipes. If you are looking for healthy and easy to follow recipes try out this book.
