This review is from: La Mécanique Du Coeur (MP3 Download)
I have most of their albums and this is by far my favorite. La Mécanique Du Coeur is infused with their own brand of hip-hop infused pop. They really put their own stamp on it tot he point where one cannot cannot confuse their music with anyone else's. This is one of the few albums I possess which I could listen to from start to finish and never tire of. There is not a bum track on the album.

Mediocre album: poor English lyrics and lacks flow,

This review is from: Mecanique Du Coeur (Audio CD)
Disclaimer: my limitations in reviewing this album are that 1) I don't speak French and 2) I am unfamiliar with other albums by Dionysos (note! Not the same Dionysos as the American artist by the same name. Don't know the American's work either.).
I was attracted to this album by the music video for the song "Tais-toi mon caeur" on YouTube, which I found is the 16th track on this album. After listening to every single song at least three times, and several songs as many as 17 times, I still think "Tais-toi mon caeur" is by far the best song. Consider saving money and purchasing this song only. If you were looking for permission, I give it to you. :) Don't feel obligated to read on unless you are interested in more details. 1) The album cover and artwork are beautiful. It makes a marvelous first impression as a gift, even if further investigation reveals that the songs are lackluster. 2) I can't really comment on the French lyrics (which sound lovely to someone who doesn't speak the language). The English lyrics, however, are simplistic, unnecessarily vulgar, and feature the most annoying accent. I think perhaps this album would be most appreciated by a listener fluent in neither language. 3) This album features a fun and creative use of a cuckoo clock as a metronome and instrument. 4) Many collaborations. Some of the female vocalists, however, sound comical (I don't know if this is on purpose). It also bothers me that sometimes their voices aren't introduced until the last quarter of the song. It's like introducing a new main character in a book within the last 50 pages! 5) Number four brings me to my last comment, which is that the album doesn't flow very well. I can only assume that it has one semi-consistent story throughout, but somehow none of the songs seem to go together. Usually albums have fantastic songs, or fantastic flow. Rarely do they have both. This album basically has neither.
