I was skeptical picking this up, I wasn't sure what to expect. After listening to it for a few weeks now, this is the best new group I've heard come out for awhile. They just have so many different styles, sometimes Jaymanilla will go from flowing and sounding like Guru to 93' Casual. The production is of high quality, there are probably about 3 songs that I don't like as much as the rest, with the RJD2 produced "Clock Song" as my favorite track. The beat and their flow make you feel high, its one of them songs that you can actually feel while listening to it, doesn't happen very often. My only gripe is the length probably, with a couple of interludes it leaves you only half full. I am excited to hear what else these guys can pull off, considering this is a debut for them, their upside is incredible.

This album is one of the best album I've ever heard. CoolCalm Pete and Jaymanila kills it. DJ Pre's production and beats are off the hook. It brings me back to the early to mid 90's when hiphop was at it's peak.

I first heard Babbletron on Embedded Studios CD I forget the name of it. I even thought Jay Manilla was cRays Walz for a while, they sound similar. I like this album exept for about 2 tracks, that Awkward Conversations one and the song about the bird. By the way Space Tech Bannana Clip uses a sample from good old Space Battleship Yamato aka (Star Blazers) and is also the best song on the album.

Mechanical Royalty - a must buy album,

This album is REALLY good. The beats and samples are well timed and the lyrics are deeper than you would think at first glance. It is one of those albums that sounds good at first, and just keeps getting better as you listen to it more, and hear some of the hooks and samples in the background. It is a must have album for fans of hip-hop or anyone who remembers the late 80's / early 90's hip-hop sound.

to any true hip hop head this cd is a must! The lyrical skills of jaymanila and cool calm pete are out of control, and the production by Dj Pre, MF Doom, and rjd2 just ad to the greatness of the cd. The cd offers mellow beats to chill to and some heavy hitters that are sure to make your heart race. All of the tracks are incredible. BUY THIS CD!!!!!!!!ALSO LOOK OUT FOR GRAND BUFFET

Wow, who in the heck are these people. This album came right out the blue, I mean I was in the store one day and I saw it. I had no idea that people like this are out there. This album is definitely bangin'. From the first song Babbletron has you, their bouncy yet soothing kicks and snares and their intense lyrics make the listener tune in with little or no patience, it's very satisfying. All their songs have a special feel to it, from "Birds" (my favorite song on the album), to "Hit Man Sonnet", every song is exceptional. The only problem I have with this album is that it's too short, it left me wanting much more. Now I am desperate to get my hands on as much Babbletron as I can muster, but there isn't that much there. Still, it's a very good purchase for the hip-hop consumer, don't miss out.

Dope debut for Babbletron!!,
This review is from: Mechanical Royalty (Audio CD)
Babbletron's debut album "Mechanical Royallty" on Embedded Records(related to def.jux) shows us how much talent their really is in the Indy hip hop level and it's only getting better. Both MC's have different skills, that blends in so smoothly together, and the production mostly by DJ PRE has a def.jux sound and fits both mc's perfectly. RJD2, MF DOOM, Ese, and Hipsta(Embedded records)also bring straight banging beats. Again like most of the other albums you would see my review on every track is tight and is creative(B-Boy)hip hop, and that's what I listen to. Highly recomended go cop peace

This is a tight album. I picked this album up due to the track Space Tech Banana Clip produced by MF Doom. RJD2 also came through nicely on The Clock Song production but the rest of the album will have ur head nodding fosho! This entire album is solid, every track is very mentally stimulating, lyrically and on the production tip. I can listen to the whole album without skipping tracks, but the tracks that stands out to me are I Need To Be, Special FX, The Clock Song, Birds, Broke Down, A.C.W.A.L.L, Dope, and the hidden track after Dope. I was surpised I never heard of these cats until now. They are a awesome group.
Babbletron is definitely what real/true hip-hop is all about! |
