I found this book to be the most beneficial with respect to understanding respiratory care. I am currently a Pediatric resident in Nevada. This book helped me on several occasions when I was on call and I am grateful to the authors. The book contains all relevant material and omits unnecessary detail that other books have had in abundance. This book could be frustrating for someone who has no understanding of ventilator support, however, would be more than adequate for any health care professionals including nurses, respiratory therapists or medical students looking to tie up the loose ends. After I purchased the book, several other residents I work with opted to purchase it as well. Good luck!

this little handbook is very handy, very easy to read, written in simple language and very easy to follow. It is really helpful in the middle of the night when you are dealing with sick patients and do not have the time ( and the energy ) to refer to a textbook on various types of respiratory support. It fits easily into you labcoat pocket and is available to you at all times. I recommend it to all interns and residents for their intensive care rotations.

As as Emergency Physician I found this to be an excellent pocket reference. Although it is primarily geared to the PICU/ICU setting I found the book easy to read and extremely helpful. The principles addressed on acute ventilator management were excellent.

I think the book was ok to get some basic terminology, but I felt it lacked any practical substance that would be useful, particularly for pediatrics

I think this handbook is the best available handbook in it's field. It is highly recommended as a tool for every resident, physician,nurse and respiratory therapist who deals with ventilators.

Very helpful pocketbook for anyone who has to manage ventilators. Makes the underlying science understandable, thereby allowing the reader to reason out appropriate vent changes.
