This standard work on the mechanics of fluids places emphasis on the principles behind engineering practice and on engineering concepts, rather than on specialized mathematical techniques.

Very difficult to understand!,
This review is from: Mechanics of Fluids (Paperback)
This book is written in a manner that makes it more useful for professors than students. Virtually no derivation paths for formulas are shown, which makes it almost impossible or very time-consuming to understand where they come from.

Worst Fluid Mech books ever,
By A Customer
This review is from: Mechanics of Fluids (Paperback)
For those who are thinking of getting this book because your lecturers or instructors recommend it, please please find some other alternatives instead. Do not ever buy this book. This book is much smaller, thinner and has bigger fonts compared to other Fluid Mech textbooks. After flipping through a few pages, it is obvious that it lacks clear explanations and examples which will be very hard for students to fully understand Fluid Mechanics. Personally, books that are more suitable for undergraduates will be :

Excellent book,

I would like to differ with the other reviewer's. I think this book is an excellent resource for anyone who is interested in knowing about the actual physical concepts than just a bunch of equations. The author clearly explains the underlying concepts behind each and every topic and he spends more time on the basics as those are the building blocks for more complex topics. I personally dont not think that the author has skipped any rigor in presenting the mathematical equations and anyone with decent knowledge of partial differential equations and tensor theory can figure them out.
I would strongly recommend this book compared to other standard books like "Fluid mechanics by White" (Though for undergraduates who are required to solve more problems that is still the prescribed one). For people who want more detailed mathematical derivations "Fluid mechanics by Pijush Kundu" is an excellent resource which can used in conjunction with this book to gain more insight.
