5.0 out of 5 stars America's pastime hallucinates...
A superb first effort. It will evoke often untapped emotions from die-hard baseball fans everywhere, and each gripping subplot will engage all readers from the apologetic outset to a most gratifying resolution.

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't bother
I was hoping this was a novel about baseball. I'd say about 10% of it is. Mostly confusing, I found myself having to re-read several passages to get it to make sense.
Wait for it to come out on the "Used" list.

5.0 out of 5 stars For real fans of sports, August 15, 2010

Great book! I strongly disagree with the reviewer that calls it confusing. A fantastic story played out on the dark fringes of baseball.

Thank god, it's not a book *just* about baseball: it's about life, about change, about all of those things we take for granted. It's good to know there is rising talent out there and I don't have to be subjected to the same voices day after year.
