Editorial Reviews

Brother Bill (DJ, Edge102 FM)

"Mechanism" is a trip. Tallman is the future, and the future is NOW!

Product Description

Mechanism's sound is grounded in solid, chunky guitar riffs with a hint of sonic experimentation and is based around killer grooves, often in odd-time signatures. The lyrics are socially aware, deeply personal and delivered with a soulful intensity - whether it be with a roar or a whisper. The sound is heavy yet accessible, and filled with definite hooks. Mechanism is on the heavy side of modern alternative rock.

Mechanism was produced by Sylvia Massy Shivy (Tool, Deftones, Econoline Crush) and Tallman. The album was recorded by Sylvia at her studio in Weed, California and mixed by Sylvia at Phase One Studios in Toronto, Canada. The disk was mastered at Masterdisk in NYC by Howie Weinberg (Nirvana, Metallica, Creed, Soundgarden, Tool).

5.0 out of 5 stars TallMan will not fall short, November 26, 2002
This review is from: Mechanism (Audio CD)
Hold on to your head, if not you're about to lose it. Tallman is amazing they will keep you entranced with their brutal instrumentals and haunting lyrics. Kicking off Mechanism with "StumblePit" that will make you get up and want to start smashing things, and "Paperweight" somewhere in the middle which is simply superb, then they have songs like "A Darker Whole" and "Ladder" which will give any Tool fans out there a pleasant thrill. You will not be dissappointed in this album, definately worth checking it out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wicked Awesome!, October 19, 2005
This review is from: Mechanism (Audio CD)
Tallman is surprisingly fresh and different from all the rest! I'm old school and have become tired of many of the rock bands out there. While listening to Music Match I just happend to be looking for the song "Hard Time Killing Floor Blues" by Chris Thomas and Stumbled onto "Beneath The Killing Floor". At first I was like what the heck is this. And then I took a good listen and was blow away! I can't remember the last time I liked every song on a CD and I can't believe these guys aren't all over the air waves. If you're looking for a great Metal Band with their own sound take a listen to Tallman!

5.0 out of 5 stars Must have CD if you really LOVE ROCK!, July 4, 2003

My roommate found this Fantastic album in a stack of [cheap] albums in local record store. We both think that it is great and anyone that hears it will agree that they must own it.
Not many CD's can earn a five star rating...and everyone of the 11 tracks is a keeper track. The final cut is 12 minutes plus and great music with words that you can understand.
