5.0 out of 5 stars TallMan will not fall short, November 26, 2002
This review is from: Mechanism (Audio CD)
Hold on to your head, if not you're about to lose it. Tallman is amazing they will keep you entranced with their brutal instrumentals and haunting lyrics. Kicking off Mechanism with "StumblePit" that will make you get up and want to start smashing things, and "Paperweight" somewhere in the middle which is simply superb, then they have songs like "A Darker Whole" and "Ladder" which will give any Tool fans out there a pleasant thrill. You will not be dissappointed in this album, definately worth checking it out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wicked Awesome!, October 19, 2005
This review is from: Mechanism (Audio CD)
Tallman is surprisingly fresh and different from all the rest! I'm old school and have become tired of many of the rock bands out there. While listening to Music Match I just happend to be looking for the song "Hard Time Killing Floor Blues" by Chris Thomas and Stumbled onto "Beneath The Killing Floor". At first I was like what the heck is this. And then I took a good listen and was blow away! I can't remember the last time I liked every song on a CD and I can't believe these guys aren't all over the air waves. If you're looking for a great Metal Band with their own sound take a listen to Tallman!

My roommate found this Fantastic album in a stack of [cheap] albums in local record store. We both think that it is great and anyone that hears it will agree that they must own it.
Not many CD's can earn a five star rating...and everyone of the 11 tracks is a keeper track. The final cut is 12 minutes plus and great music with words that you can understand.

I recieved this CD as a promo for my internet radio station. It took me on an unexpected ride! The music is totally awesome, cool, and should be in every metalheads's collection!! From start to finsh, it is an unbelievable ride..makes one wonder why the record industry hasn't taken these guys up. With so much junk being signed...these guys truly ought to be playing Ozzfest. What's up Sharon??? A must have for every metalhead collection. If you like Tool..you will love these guys..

5.0 out of 5 stars The Mechanics of Rock, January 30, 2003

This review is from: Mechanism (Audio CD)
Some people are quick to dismiss Tallman as just another nu-metal band in the overpopulated hard rock market. As someone who has been listening for long enough to know better, I can tell you otherwise. Tallman have come a long way, and they're heading for the red in the black. Singer Jay Toner pours his heart and his mind into his lyrics, which are strong words and deep meanings, of course you need good music to carry them, to make sure they reach out and touch the world, leaving a mark and a message. No problem. Guitarist Paul Agricola rips it up in songs like "Cope" and "Livid" (where Toner belts out his frustrations), slows things down to a peaceful, yet not 'at peace' moment in the epic "Iodine" (where Toner lets loose sad but hopeful vocals) and then Paul mixes it up very effectively from chugging, to eerie ticking sounds to great powerchord progressions in songs like "A Darker Whole" and "Mechanism". Most notably, is the bass and FX combo in Tallman's music. Andrew Lauzon, the evil genious was a sight to see at the live shows (left the band in Sept 2002, was replaced by the very capable Rich Fairdthorne), effortlessly switching between odd yet addictive FX runs and soothing bass pops. Last but not least, Drummer Rick Welbanks must have been destined to be a metal drummer. He can play deadly double bass, maul his cymbals and play all his other skins in a way that perfects "Mechanism" the band's shout out to the rocker in all of us. This band is a tight, rugged, rocking combination that must be heard. They will rise to the top and they will be heard.
