4.0 out of 5 stars Glove Review
I got these for a present for my husband and he loves them. They are warm and provide good protection from the elements. They're his favorites for shoveling snow. The only drawback is that they run a little small.

Just received. I have short fingers so ordered small size per usual experience. This glove was extremely tight to get on. Hand barely made it past the "throat". Once inside, the fingers fit fairly well, although there was still considerable space between end of fingers and end of the glove. The glove lining is loose from the exterior glove layer, causing seams and other portions of the lining to seem to clump between fingers and the outer glove layer, creating uncomfortable sensation of "something in the glove". Appears to be no solution except "get used to it". Also don't expect lots of dexterity here. You pay a price in dexterity for the layers that provide the warmth. Reminded me of ski glove, only with tougher exterior surface. In retrospect I think I prefer more flexible "ironclad" or "mechanix" unlined type work glove with the addition of a separate silk or metal thread liner from the ski market for warmth.

3.0 out of 5 stars tight but quality, January 26, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Beware; the sizing is not what you might suspect. I am 6'3" & 225 lbs and the XL are uncomfortably tight. I know they're work gloves & need to be taut. However, these are so tight that I can barely work 20 minutes in the cold before my hands became numb. In moderate temps they are bearable but are still on the tight side. If larger sizes were available I think I would need XXXL. Other than the sizing, they are very well made.

3.0 out of 5 stars short fingers, January 10, 2010

I like my regular Sears mechanics gloves a lot just for messing around the garage and yard. I thought these would do as well for the colder weather. I bought the extra large as others had commented they ran small. The problem is that, like many gloves made in Asia, the fingers are too short for the typical American hand. There is nothing more annoying than putting on a pair of gloves and not being able to grip anything because the crotch of the fingers is up around your knuckles.

2.0 out of 5 stars Runs small and too bulky, January 2, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Mechanix Wear MCW2-08-010 Zone 2 Cold Weather Glove, Black/Grey, Large (Tools & Home Improvement)
The gloves run small and are hard to put on. When putting on 1st glove it's an issue since it is very tight around the wrist. The 2nd glove is a real problem since its hard to grip the glove w/ so much padding in your fingers of 1st hand. I doubt I will be able to work w/ these on. I normally wear a large in Mechanix gloves but if I was to order these again I would get an extra large. The only time I found a use for them has been to scrape ice off windshield of car. But then I had to remove the gloves to put key ignition. Other than that they are just too bulky. I give them 2 stars since not much of a work glove, sizing is off, and I wouldn't buy them again.
Another thing why did Amazon have it as 4 different options to buy vs. just letting you pick your size from a drop down menu.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good gloves, December 10, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
These are good gloves, but nothing special when it comes to Mechanix. Any cold weather gloves with a leather palm would be equivalent. I have come to expect Mechanix to keep dexteriety using better materials but it isn't the case with these. Good gloves overall, but being an avid Mechanix wearer, sort of dissapointed with these.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great gloves but manufacturer needs to cope with sizing info, November 7, 2010

The gloves themselves rate five stars, I think, but I personally believe it is incumbent upon the manufacturer to provide valid and usable sizing information for products being sold by mail/Internet. I went to the Mechanix Wear website and found that their information did not work for me. The traditional way to size gloves has been by taking a tape measure to the widest part of the palm and measuring all the way around. I had to base my order on help given by other reviewers and it happens that it worked fairly well.

For this Cold Weather glove, I ordered large. (The medium probably would have been a better fit but the issue of entry addressed by other reviewers made me wary.) My hand measures 8" around the widest part of the palm and my middle - longest - finger is 3" from the crotch. The fingers and thumb of this large give me 1/2" extra length, which will be pretty much taken up by liner gloves for the coldest weather. I have taken the time to make these measurements that may help others. I have no difficulty getting these on or off.

The gloves are well-constructed, with warm Polartec-type fabric on sides and throat. On the palm and work surfaces of fingers and thumb there is a heavy nylon, probably cordura, that feels coated with a tactile, somewhat sticky substance for better grip. The back of the glove including first two fingers has a heavier part-wool fabric. The entire glove is lined with a polyester woven fabric, so has at least two layers throughout. A velcro tab snugs the wrist.

3.0 out of 5 stars Depends on what you're using it for., April 13, 2010

I bought these gloves for an arctic environment. I work in -20 to -40 temperatures and the gloves did a sufficient job, given that they're only rated to 0 degrees. I work in the oilfield and I got these gloves because I like Mechanix gloves over and I figured they would be perfect for my working environment. In the past I've worn Mechanix Wear MFF-02-011 Fast Fit Gloves, Red, XL and they're great. I wore them for work, fourwheeling, chores, etc. They're a great versatile glove. I bought the cold weather glove expecting the same.

Pros:
Price - It's worth a shot if you buy them on Amazon and can wait for the free shipping. This price is way better than any hardware store in town.

Comfort - They were pretty comfortable. I didn't have problems with the lining as others did.

Durable - They seem to be well made as far as stitching and fabric goes. They seem to be made to last.

Style - I like the way they look too. Not that has any bearing on their porformance.

Cons:

Ease of use - One thing I didn't like (probably the most) was how hard they were to get on and off. I'm used to the Fast Fit gloves that are easy to get on and off. These had a velcro strap that doesn't really give much room for adjustment. Even with the strap not secured, they were still hard to get on and off. I ended up cutting the strap off.

Grip - When the temperature drops, you lose the grip. If the temperature drops below freezing, be careful because you if you're swinging a hammer, it might slip. Also the grip doesn't give you the feel of regular mechanix gloves.

Versatility - I kept having to take them off. It was hard to grip small objects. There are better Mechanix gloves out there if this is what you're looking for.

The two things I didn't like about them is what gave them three starts. They were just OK. I'm going to try them out four wheeling and see how they perform.
I'm going to try these four wheeling and see how they perform. They seem to be a good glove if you plan on keeping them on for long periods of time.

Recently a work policy made us switch to gloves with knuckle protection. We've been using the Mechanix Wear SHD-91-011 Safety Mpact ORHD Hi-Viz Gloves, Yellow, XLarge. If you have the money, they are awesome. My work provided them for me, so I got a free trial run pretty much. There is also an inuslated version with a different grip that may be more suitable.

To sum it up, I thought they were okay. I'm taking them home with me and going to use them for shoveling snow and four wheeling. Using them for work just didn't suit me. Consider what you're using them for before you decide to purchase. If possible, try them out first to make sure you can deal with the fitting issue.

3.0 out of 5 stars Large is not Large, January 22, 2010
This review is from: Mechanix Wear MCW2-08-010 Zone 2 Cold Weather Glove, Black/Grey, Large (Tools & Home Improvement)
I got these for Christmas and they seem like really great gloves but they don't fit. I have average size hands and ordered a large and couldn't even fit my hands in them.
