I was given a set of these gloves to evaluate for a magazine story, along with a couple of sets of the regular MW gloves with the wrist straps. I fell in love with all of the wrist strap gloves (the more common style) for all the automotive and hobby farm work I do. The best feature of the MW gloves are the way the fingers are made. 1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible for heavy use
i bought a set from the local auto store and they lasted me less than a month at work, i am at 3 days shy of a month on these gloves and my thumb index and middle fingers on both hands are torn through, and my left ring finger is almost there as well, i bought these in hopes they would be a step up from the cheap 4 dollar ones that only lasted a month and these were...

5.0 out of 5 stars My Hands Are Addicted, February 13, 2008

I was given a set of these gloves to evaluate for a magazine story, along with a couple of sets of the regular MW gloves with the wrist straps. I fell in love with all of the wrist strap gloves (the more common style) for all the automotive and hobby farm work I do. The best feature of the MW gloves are the way the fingers are made. They fit better and allow for a better sense of touch and more detailed work than any glove I've ever owned. The other impressive feature about the MW gloves are how long they last. I get out to work as often as possible... nowhere near full time... but I was still wearing out at least two or three sets of hardware store gloves a year. The MW gloves were giving me at least a year. When I finally used up the "free sample" wrist strap gloves, I finally put the Fast Fits to work and found my true "glove love." I'm on and off with my gloves a lot and the straps became a bit of a pain. The Fast Fit gloves come on an off easily but they stay on when you want them to. The perfect compromise for me. I need gloves more than most because I go from being an office worker to a laborer at a moment's notice. I spend most of my time pecking on a computer keyboard and my hands are not tough like they once were. These gloves offer a great fit, extraordinary feel and outstanding wear. My hands are addicted.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Glove, October 9, 2004
I work for a security firm installing cameras. These gloves allow me to do all but the most detailed work. I'm able to handle just about any size object and get the job done. In the past, when wearing normal work gloves, I had to remove my gloves to do detailed work (small screws, brackets, mounting cameras.....), but not any more! I only remove them for very detailed work (like wiring and terminating). Mechanix wear makes lighter gloves, but these have held up well and as stated above, allowed me to do all but the most detailed work. On the downside, I don't expect these gloves to last more than a few months on the job (ulike my deerskin gloves), but I consider these gloves as an essential tool, and superior protection for my hands...

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding gloves for work and fun, December 9, 2008
I wear these gloves for work, where I am constantly digging with a shovel, pick, or bar and they are outstanding. They endure as long as any good pair of work gloves should. I also use them to operate heavy equipment which requires dexterity from a glove and they perform well there as well. More interestingly however is that I wear them skydiving. While skydiving it is necessary to use a glove that allows you to feel so that you can find your hacky used to deploy your main parachute... and if necessary so that you may feel your emergency handles. It is also desired to have somewhat of a sticky texture for the very same reason, as well as to maintain a good grip on other skydivers when doing "relative work". Despite the fact that these are "fast fit" they do not come off in the air, though they do allow me to remove them quickly if necessary. I have recently been jumping in cold weather as well. I add silk liners when jumping in cold weather but they are the only gloves I can use with the liners and still maintain very good dexterity and feel, and are plenty warm when combined with the liners.

5.0 out of 5 stars fabulous gloves for light protection, March 13, 2009

I bought a pair last summer, and I've just returned here to buy at least 3 more pair. For what they're made for, nothing could be better. They aren't going to keep your hands warm in very cold weather, but they aren't designed to. The thin leather makes handling things almost as easy as not having gloves on. I can do all sorts of chores around the house and shop in cold weather, and they work great. You can easily handle small objects. They're great for handling firewood. I also use them in glassblowing, and again it's like not having gloves on, except they provide more protection than you might think for such a thin glove. They fit very well, and they slip on and off easily. When they're on, they're like having a second thick skin. I've typed on a computer with them. I can take my wallet out of my pocket and insert or remove bills easily. Being such thin leather, they aren't going to last as long as heavier gloves, but they're SO much more handy than any other gloves I own. I just can't say enough good things about these gloves. Once you've got them wet a couple times, the leather acts like a chamois and will immediately soak up any moisture they come in contact with. But they dry out nicely and continue to wear and fit superbly even after many wet/dry cycles. Even in our long cold NH winter, I've worn these all winter long and only switch out for heavier gloves when I am doing extended outdoor work. I've got lots of work gloves; cotton with rubber dots, cowhide insulated & uninsulated, pigskin, you name it. I've also got similar gloves with a bit heavier leather and velcro wrist straps. These are much better, both for the feel and for being quicker and easier to put on and off. Once they're on, they stay on very nicely. These are my favorite and most versatile gloves by far.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for yard work, September 8, 2010

I got these to work in the yard. I find them really comfortable and have a good grip. I've gone through a lot of standard leather yard gloves but I'm changingto expand options like this. They are even good for pulling larger weeds.

I bought these to replace the brakes and do routine maintenance on both of my cars, and so far, they've been worth every penny paid for them. They're easy to get on and off, and provide protection against cuts and hot surfaces. The Mechanix website has a sizing chart in case you have questions about what size to order. I ended up with a medium even though my other gloves are all in the large or x-large range, so double check the chart!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Gloves!, May 30, 2010

This review is from: Mechanix Wear MFF-05-009 Fast-Fit Gloves, Black, Medium (Tools & Hardware)
I purchased a pair of these work gloves mainly to use them when I work on my car. The Fast-Fit is great and they do stay on. The size, fit and comfort are all great. Although they are relatively thin compared to other work gloves out there, their protection is on par. Their thickness actually enables your hands to operate more freely; thus, I found them to be useful for many other activities that require more attention to details such as home maintenance, servicing computers, simple electronic projects, etc... I worked several times on my car's engine, air conditioner, changed the handles on the four doors, and changed multiple flat tires, all while wearing them. I have had them for almost six months now and they still look like new after a five-minute manual wash!

In a nutshell, these work gloves are well designed, well made, provide excellent protection for what they are, and offer a great value for money. I highly recommend them for light to medium manual labour tasks around the house and the car.

i bought a set from the local auto store and they lasted me less than a month at work, i am at 3 days shy of a month on these gloves and my thumb index and middle fingers on both hands are torn through, and my left ring finger is almost there as well, i bought these in hopes they would be a step up from the cheap 4 dollar ones that only lasted a month and these were actually worse! i am a tire installer and i put in 40 hours of nothing but gloves and these just do not hold up! i will say if your doing light work they may be great as they are comfortable and easy on and off, as well as you can work with the smallest of items and not lose your ability to handle!

4.0 out of 5 stars Mechanics Fast Fit, May 6, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've only used them for a few casual projects around the garage and around the yard.
They fit well, stay on well, and are comfortable.
No problem gripping small items, picking up nuts and bolts.

Better suited for the garage than for yardwork.
Rose thorns etc., go through them pretty easily, but that's not what they were designed for.

Good value.

There's probably not a lot you can say about a work glove. These fit well, giving you good feel for the job. They are reasonably durable, and very comfortable. I wear them all the time while woodworking for hours at a time.
