bought this for my autoshop classes im taking, its great working with them on, it helps grip tools and softens the impact gun, and with the open fingers, it makes unscrewing bolts a lot easier than using a pair with covered fingers

i just have a hard time taking them off cause im used to pulling on the fingers, i have to pull from the palm, and they sometimes end up inside out, not a big problem, just a little hassle

*UPDATE*
well, its been almost a year now since i got the the gloves, and i've been using them a lot, it started to wear and tear around the palm, so i ordered some new ones from amazon, didn't notice they updated them until they arrived, amazon still has the old pics up of the yellow ones with sepereated protection, i think the old ones look better, anyways, the new ones have a layer of protection that just kinda spiders out to the fingers, and they updated the velcro, the side that grabs feels a lot smoother and is less likely to get caught on random fuzzy things

since i got the new pair, i'd forgotton how tight they were, but im sure in about a month they'll stretch out enough to be perfectly comfortable again, i just hope the new updated ones dont start tearing in the same place again

*UPDATE* PT2

its been about a month since i got the new gloves, and they're already starting to tear apart at the velcro on the strap, the right one started to rip and i just assumed i got one of the bad ones, but then the left one started to rip off too, i haven't been misusing them in anyway, just taking them on and off... im starting to feel as if the old model ones were of better quality...

*UPDATE* PT3

The gloves I received and reviewed are an older model. I don't know about the new ones, but I hope they're hardier than the previous.

One of the things that I like to do is shoot for both recreational purposes as well as for self-defense practice. No matter how often you shoot or how well you shoot you eventually start to get a little recoil sensitive after a few magazines... especially when you are shooting physically small, but large caliber, handguns. These gloves are fantastic in helping soak up the recoil and continue shooting while the "fingerless-ness" keeps the trigger and grip as close as possible to what you would feel without the gloves on. It also keeps your ability to control the trigger as exactly as if you weren't wearing any gloves. The reason I bring that up is something most people don't think about, the feel of the gun in your hand. Concealed Carry, and by extension Every Day Carry (EDC), considerations should be kept in mind... your best practice is with the gear you are most likely to in or using if you-know-what hits the fan... and I seriously doubt you'll be wearing gloves at the time.

I bought these to reduce fatigue while shooting at the range and they fit the bill perfectly. They absorb the recoil of whatever handgun I'm shooting and allow ,e to stay at the range much longer that I would without them.

I would give these gloves a 3.5 star review if the option were available to me. I have been using them moderately for several months now, and like all other Mechanix gloves I have owned, they began to come apart relatively quickly. There's only so much I am willing to do with superglue to maintain these gloves. The rubber pieces on the back of the hand, which are designed to protect your hands from becoming hurt from exterior impact (hence the name) do not stay secured to the body of the glove very well, as they are simply glued on in the first place. However, while in tact they do serve to protect your hands very well. They do limit dexterity and comfort slightly, but if you have a real need to protect your hands from such external impact, the trade-off is quite worth it.

The padding on the palm of the glove, however, is both excellent in design AND durability. The impact resistant pads are securely stitched into place and function precisely as intended, making them excellent for shooting higher powered firearms and operating power tools which would require the added dexterity of a fingerless glove, but would also benefit from that internal shock absorption. In the course of my job, I do a lot of paperwork in between my physical work, so it benefits me greatly to have a glove that provides me both protection and dexterity for finer tasks. Unfortunately, all the impact protection comes at a sacrifice of gripping ability, for which I also have an urgent need. Considering all these factors, and keeping in mind my specific philosophy of use, I can only give these gloves 3.5 out of 5 stars. I would recommend them to anyone who does not need a lot of grip, but wants both impact protection and dexterity, and who doesn't mind the gloves beginning to fall apart in a short period of time. Expect a maximum of 6 months use from these gloves with moderate use.

I am a carpenter and I bought these gloves because I was having problems with my hands. Especially when I would use certain power tools or do any demolition work. For that aspect they work great. My hands don't get numb and I still have the dexterity I need to manage nails, screws, pencils, etc. However, I am only giving them four stars because after wearing them a few days, your hands will smell like a dirty sock. They must not breath well and washing takes care of the problem, but mine tend to stay wadded up in the door pocket of my pickup instead of making it into the laundry. I am going to order a couple extra pairs that I can rotate through the wash when needed.
