These gloves fit really well, are extremely durable, and look great.

The gloves allow some minimal hand protection while preserving dexterity--I feel like I can actually manipulate parts and small objects when wearing these.

I've used the 'Mechanix Original' for personal protective equipment for years, but only due to availability. I can walk into any automotive store, or a Walmart and walk out with these. Let me repeat: The ONLY reason I use these is due to their availability, their functionality is sufficient but not the main reason I use them.

+POSITIVES

Dexterity- I can pick out washers, bolts, nuts, etc and manipulate small hand tools without taking the gloves off, and I can run wiring and connect leads with ease. After about a year of wearing these, I switched from a Large to a Medium (only because it was all the automotive shop had in stock at the time) and found that the extra tightness negated the little lumps the seams left on the tips of my fingers- as it was taught against my fingertip, the dexterity loss could easily be accounted for, almost as though I had long nails, I got used to it.

Fit & Comfort- With no rigid fabrics in the glove, no matter how your hand is gripping there won't be any pressure spots causing discomfort. I prefer to avoid those 'tacti-cool' hard-knuckle gloves for this reason, they have rigid sections which can become most uncomfortable when working in tight spaces or climbing or lifting. The fit is quite well-designed and there's no slack through the fingers or across the palm. Even with the hook/loop wrist closures unfastened I'm able to work just fine. The seam placement is pretty comfortable, with the tips of the fingers having a seam just under the nail, where the tip of your finger and the ridge of your nail meet. The fit across the knuckles and between the fingers and the length of the fingers is just about right for most hands.

I bought these gloves about a weekago. I work in a garage that specializes in tire installations etc...I thought these would be perfect. They fit great. I could type wearing them...lugnuts were no problem. The problem is they wore away on the fingers where i grip things. I'm very surprised the rest of the glove looks brand new. I tried the other mechanix gloves with the padded palms but those are just slightly too bulky, which is unfortunate. Imight try these again but im very leery about them wearing away again.. I might just cut away the fingers, but that seems like a waste to me. Oh well I suppose these gloves would be excellent for things such as raking, maybe gardening, or maybe engine work. But my overall impression it's a very good fitting, tight, workable glove, just don't work them too hard!

These gloves are very comfortable and allow better use of fingers for fine tasks. They feel like a pair of fine driving gloves (as one user with the same complaint put it), but their advertising implies that they are for doing real work. The thin, soft, leather wears out very quickly when used where there is any significant friction or abrasion (e.g., handling firewood, shoveling dirt or gravel, handling a loaded wheelbarrow, picking up rocks, etc.). They are fine with smooth-handled tools, like polished metal or fiberglass, but wear out quickly when used with smooth, but weathered, wooden handled tools, for example. I will buy a replacement pair, but will be more selective about what I use them for.

I never liked wearing gloves when working on my car because I can't feel what i am doing. Ever since I tried this glove out, I have never worked without it. It fits my hand snugly, I can feel what I am doing and have protected my hand from numerous cuts and bruises.

First go to Mechanix website and print off the size chart and buy the right size. I have been buying too big of gloves for too long because I thought I had manly large hands...well I only have medium manly hands. I didn't believe the chart so went to a home store tried on the Mechanix gloves in medium and they fit 100 x better than the large.

I bought the Camo, all black (stealth) and the coyote of these Mechanix gloves so I can be tacticool!

I use them at the shooting range, I use them on cold days as driving gloves. None of the home stores around had the 3 tacticool colors, plus they are cheaper on amazon.com.

Now only if they made a pair in multi-cam so when the zombies come at me, they think to themselves...man that guy is all geared out and really cool looking. Then I place one between their eyes due to my awesome weapon control because I am wearing these cool gloves. Plus these gloves will keep your hands clean so when you rescue that hotty from being eaten you can take your gloves off and shake her hand and not worry about giving her cooties.

Ok, just ignore that $75 list price. Either that's a misprint or someone ingested a controlled substance while typing. These gloves might save you some scraped knuckles or worse while exercising your inner mechanic. They sell just about everywhere for around 20 bucks and they are both functional and add a layer of safety to your project. Wait until they are on special at $15 on Amazon and you'll save both your knuckles and your wallet.

I used to use the leather palm type of gloves for working (mechanic), they would start to get dirty and greasy, at which point I would figure they wouldn't last much longer. Once that point was reached I would not be careful about keeping them clean. Soon after that, they would get saturated with grease, or get a hole rendering them worthless.

These are a synthetic leather and seem to last forever. I've welded in them, got them super greasy then wiped them off, then continued using and abusing them. I bought another pair to replace them thinking they would get a hole pretty soon. That second pair is still sitting in my tool box unused. The first pair is about 2 years old now, but I don't use them every day. Only when I need the cushioning or splinter protection.

So the advantages are, paying a more now for these compared to buying multiple leather pairs. Much better dexterity and feel compared to the leather. Easy on and off. I've even had leather ones give me sort of a hand fungus (jock itch of the hand?).

Disadvantages, number one is cost. But if you look, you can find them for [...] bucks. They're not made for welding, so don't pick up something hot. I burned a pin hole in one of the fingers accidently touching the mig wire. Don't get the camo ones. If you leave them sitting somewhere, they'll camoflouge themselves, and get easily lost. My first pair I got blue, second bright yellow.
