Not as bad as some would have you believe!,

This review is from: Meco Aussie 9329W Deluxe Electric Cart Grill with Rotisserie, Satin Black (Lawn & Patio)
It is still somewhat early to review this product, as I have only used it 3 times so far. I have cooked chicken breasts, pork loin, and turkey burgers. The grill was quite simple to put together, just make sure before you start that you separate all of your hardware so you know you have it all, and you don't accidentally use the wrong item in the wrong place. I researched electric grills on-line quite thoroughly, and found this to be the best. Meco isn't even available in CO so I purchased it through Amazon with absolutely zero issues... as usual.
VERY IMPORTANT: To all of the people saying that they are cooking food on a slant and the food falls off onto the floor... they are putting it together incorrectly! Unless you are using the rotisserie, your cooking surface should always remain flat! The only thing that can change angles is the heating element, so that you can cook things more well done toward the back and more rare items toward the front of the grill. Probably my only complaint so far would be to say that my heating element is automatically slightly slanted because that's the position into which it falls. I probably just need to tighten something, but I have not fully investigated it yet. However, it is nothing horribly significant. Also, the grill is smaller than most traditional propane grills, but I cook for only one or two people and it is more than sufficient. If you can't go propane... go Meco! It's sooo nice knowing you will never run out of propane again! Also, cleaning isn't too bad, but I recommend placing some aluminum foil between the heating element and the cooking surface.

Not Really For Me,
This review is from: Meco Aussie 9329W Deluxe Electric Cart Grill with Rotisserie, Satin Black (Lawn & Patio)
Too early for full review....used it only 3 times so far. Seems to work O.K. One thing I could say for sure! The slanted grill design is horrible. Food slides down all the time, and could fall onto the floor if your not ready for it. If Meco redesigns their grill cooking surface horizontal, I believe their product sales should increase.

This grill didn't even last 6 months before breaking down. It never did assemble very well; cheap materials made for off-kilter alignment of lid to bottom so it would never close. Food slid off angled grill onto deck floor. I'm going back to Patio Caddie, although I will likely get the Patio Bistro this time. The quality of construction comparison is hands-down in favor of the Patio Caddie model. I hope I'm able to protect someone from a disappointing purchase thru this testimony.

This grill is wonderful. It heats up in a flash, cools down just as quick when shut off so you never have to worry about the hot coals around children. I also like the fact that I don't have to keep buying coals for the standard grill or even worrying about when the gas will be empty on the gas ones. But the main reason for the electric was knowing that my food wouldn't be contaminated by chemicals. It could be better if it were a little bigger and perhaps had a shelf for corn, but I wouldn't pass it up because of it. I haven't had the chance to use the rotissere, but knowing it came with it is a plus. And clean up will also be easy because a little easy off oven cleaner will keep it sparkling. Try that with an ordinary grill!

Overpriced dangerous junk !,

I bought this grill only because I live in a Condo which prohibits gas grills. It is essentially made from cheap stamped metal parts and is worth maybe $49. The single main problem is it catches fire all the time. This grill does achieve much higher temperatures than other electric grills. It does so by putting a reflector pan about a half an inch below the electrical element. The juices are supposed to run across the reflector pan and drain into the botton of the grill. The problem is the pan heats to 600 degrees and is only a half an inch away from the element. Fat is not going to run across a 600 degree pan. It ignites almost immediatly. The only way to keep this thing from catching fire is to clean the pan thoroughly every time you use it. A very messy job !
The routisserie spit turns on a cutout in the thin metal. It scrapes like crazy ! For $200 they could have thrown in a cheap bushing like most grills have. There are rally no differnet cooking temperatures. The elemnet is controled by a simple thermostat. The element is either on or off. Sound familiar ? Yep! THis thing is nothing more than an outdoor toaster oven ! It is now in the dumpster as the last time it caught fire the folks across from me called the fire dept. The Condo associaltion told them I must have a gas grill on my balconey because electric grills don't catch fire. I had to let the fireman go onto my balconey to verify it was an electric grill. That was enough for me and into the dumpster it went !

The rotisserie grill is nice and convenient. The one problem I have with the heating element is it won't stay up in the rotisserie position. The design is not sturdy enough to hold it up. There is a weak indention type catch on the side.

I WANT THIS TO SERVE AS A WARNING TO ANY BUYER CONSIDERING TO PURCHASE THE MECO ELECTRIC GRILL. THIS GRILL IS TOTALLY MISREPRESENTED AS AN OUT-DOOR COOKING GRILL AND DOES NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT HEATING ELEMENT TO GRILL ANYTHING; IT MERELY BROWNS MEAT AND RESULTS IN AN AWFUL TASTE LIKE THE CHICKEN WAS BOILED. WHAT'S WORSE, IS THAT WE HAD TO PAY TO SEND IT BACK. I WOULD NOT PURCHASE ANY MECO PRODUCT.

We needed a grill for apartment use but wanted one with a stand. We bought the Meco and are very satisfied with it. It was difficult to assemble but once together it is fine. The flat drip pan is difficult to get in and out to clean but cleans easily. The grate is easy to clean, aply pam before cooking and put in the dishwasher after.....clean.
We bought a cover at K Mart that does the job and all is good. Andrea Messer

even though it is compact, it still cooks a great steak. large enough to cook 12 burgers or so, perfect for condo's that don't allow gas grill.
