This would be good if it was actually tamper-proof but all you have to do is push the tray ahead once the door opens to get to the next pill box.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the price, June 29, 2010
This review is from: MedReady 1600 Basic Medication Dispenser
I purchased this for my mother who has the early stages of Alzheimers. She had been double dosing her meds or not taking them and now with the MedReady Automatic Medication dispenser she's back on track! Because my mother only has to take pills twice a day that allows me to to put 14 days worth of pills in the dispenser. Setting the dispensing time is just like setting an alarm clock-super easy! The alarm is loud but mom still has trouble hearing it if she's 2 rooms away with the TV on. It comes with 2 keys and when you place the key inside the lock & open it the key stays in the lock so it doesn't get lost. It runs on AC power but has a back up battery if the power should go out.
Along with this item I also purchased a 2nd pill tray so that I could just easily swap out the trays inside the dispenser. The spare tray comes with a clear snap on lid so your pills stay in place where they should be.

5.0 out of 5 stars A pretty good dispenser., June 11, 2010

Before you buy this product, there are a few things you should know. First of all, this dispenser is not tamper-proof. Maybe it qualifies for tamper resistant, but if someone wanted to break it, and get all the pills out, they could. It would probably be most suitable for someone who needs help remembering when to take their pills and who need reassurance that they will know if they took them or not. The buzzer goes off, and will stop when you open the door and take out your next dosage.

Generally I have been happy with this dispenser.

5.0 out of 5 stars MedReady Review, August 29, 2009
This review is from: MedReady 1600 Basic Medication Dispenser
The MedReady Dispenser is indispensable. It's easy to set up, the alarm volume is adequate, and it has a battery backup. If you have several meds and different dosing times the MedReady is a must have.

4.0 out of 5 stars MedReady Automatic Medication Dispenser, July 10, 2010

Great product. The only problem is that it can be cheated. If you are worried about someone trying to get the medication when they shouldn't then look for another, more secure, product. It gets 4 stars instead of 5 for this reason. Otherwise, this unit does what it is advertised to do.

5.0 out of 5 stars automatic pill dispenser, November 14, 2010

My Dad is 78 with Alzheimer's. I purchased this pill box because he would forget that he had taken his pills in the morning and take them again, he was overdosing in the morning and at bedtime he would sometimes forget to take his pills. Since purchasing this pill box, he has not overdosed in the morning and has not missed a dose at bedtime. It is easy for him to use and gave me peace of mind. This is the best investment I have made for him so far; well worth the $150. Just wish the alarm on it was louder, Dad's hearing is not that great and he refuses to wear his hearing aid so he only hears the alarm when he is in the same room. Would recommend for anyone who has trouble remembering their meds.

This product allows the caregiver to fix medications for up to 28 days and lock the container. Medication is only available for one day at a time. I love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars My life saver, January 15, 2012

My Mom has alzhimers and this machine has been a real blessing. She is required to take multiple doses of medication at different times of the day. This machine is worth every cent of it's price. It was easy to set up. The instructions were very easy to understand. It only took a couple of days to get her used to the alarms and to take her medicine as prescribed. I looked at everything on the market before deceiding on the Medready. The best feature of all is the security I get knowing when the machine is locked she can't get an accidental over dose. I refill the machine every two weeks. This machine has been my savior.MedReady 1600 Basic Medication Dispenser

5.0 out of 5 stars I recommend the Rx DrugSAFE Fingerprint Medication Lock Box, December 2, 2010
This review is from: MedReady 1600 Basic Medication Dispenser
Fingerprint Medicine Safe - Secure Prescription and Over the Counter Drug Safe

I have researched and tested all of the medicine safe products available for purchase and by far the most secure and convenient is the Rx DrugSAFE. My mom had a stroke several years ago and cannot remember numbers. She also suffers from arthritis in her hands and wrists and cannot easily turn a key. She takes 6 seperate medications each day and the Rx DrugSAFE securely stores up to a 90 day supply of all her meds.

The Rx DrugSAFE gives me the peace of mind in knowing my mom's medications are secured and cannot be tampered with by other family members but that she can access them easily using the biometric sensor. All she has to do is swipe her finger over the sensor and the safe will unlock for her. Only previously authorized users can access the safe using the biometric fingerprint sensor and the Rx DrugSAFE allows you to enroll multiple users so I have enrolled myself, my spouse and her nurses and other aids...they all have secure access...but my kids, nieces and nephews and anyone else who might be in the house cannot get in.

The safe is made from heavy duty steel and is very sturdy. There is a key override, but it is a tubular lock that cannot be picked. I would consider the safe to be tamper proof. I don't think any opportunist looking to steal a couple of pills and not be caught would have the ability to break into the safe. I have the safe secured to an Armoire in my mom's room using the steel security cable that comes with the safe but I believe you can also purchase an optional mounting bracket if you want to mount the safe permanently. I like the flexibility of having the safe fixed and portable and use the security cable because my mom sometimes travels and this way she can securely carry her medications with her in her luggage when she travels and secure the safe wherever she is. I definitely recommend the Rx DrugSAFE to all parents or families with medications in the home, where there might be chidlren present, or other family members or visitors coming into the home. You just never know what people do when they go into your bathroom and by securing your medications using the Rx DrugSAFE, you eliminate the chance that they can steal them.
