5.0 out of 5 stars Great game for its time., January 15, 2012
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Medal Of Honor: Allied Assault (Jewel Case) (CD-ROM)
The innovative gameplay was superior to everything else for it's time especially with the leaning and skill it took to be good at this game. It's a shame that shooters aren't as good as this one was today.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great game even today, January 14, 2012
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Medal Of Honor: Allied Assault (Jewel Case) (CD-ROM)
First off, yes the graphics are old. I don't know why people always seem to expect modern graphics with old games but many times they do. The graphics don't hamper any of the fun...it's still the same game as it was when it came out...the fun factor never went down.

I love the fact that there are wide open places and narrow places. Nothin' better then hearing a sniper rifle echo in the middle of a snowy place. Though, the game isn't as open as some other games I've played but they give plenty of space.

The weapons were also nice. Not a big selection but it gave you what you need. The only problem I had with the weapons is you can only use melee with the pistol which caused me to lose health and sometimes die. I would learn which weapons are assigned to what keys instead of using the mouse wheel. If you use the mouse wheel to cycle through weapons you'll probably end up dead a few times.

Speaking of ending up dead...'quick save' is your BEST friend! Use it. Just make sure you don't use quick save after someone throws a grenade at your feet...oops, my bad.

If you've played Medal of Honor games before you know the music is pretty much the best thing ever...same with this game. Though to be fair, it's the same music they use in pretty much all their games. Also, I find it funny that the Germans always seem to say the same things in every game. Even though I'm used to it from other games the music and voices are good.

Speaking of voices...the mission briefings that we have come to know and love in MoH games is also in this one. You can skip it or listen to it, your choice. What I missed though was the actual documentary footage that some other games have shown.

The only gripe I would have with the game (other than the melee) is when the enemies are behind walls you can see a black spot. You always know where they're at (unless they're very far away) so you know if someone is around the corner. I found this very annoying because it would make otherwise difficult missions seem rather easy. It's as if you have a radar and I HATE radar in games...I feel cheap when I use them so this annoyed me but I got used to it. There might be a patch out that will fix it. I haven't checked for patches.

The missions are split up into sections and each section doesn't take too long so this is a great game if you just want to jump in and play for a 15-20 minutes. Though you can also save anytime...you don't have to finish the section if you don't want.

If you love war games you'll love this one...if you love MoH games this is a must have. It's very cheap now..I got Allied Assault + the 2 expansions + Pacific Assault all for $7 on ebay (though I haven't played the expansions yet).
Grab it offline somewhere and start having fun!

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to play, February 19, 2010

I ordered this game for my granddaughter and I was relieved to see that it is easy enough for her to play. She figured it out and is thoroughly enjoying it. I honestly can't say whether it's worth 5 stars or not, but watching her play it I know that if she was old enough to vote she'd definitely give it 5 stars, so I'm giving them for her!
