5.0 out of 5 stars Great game for its time.
The innovative gameplay was superior to everything else for it's time especially with the leaning and skill it took to be good at this game. It's a shame that shooters aren't as good as this one was today.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great game even today, January 14, 2012

First off, yes the graphics are old. I don't know why people always seem to expect modern graphics with old games but many times they do. The graphics don't hamper any of the fun...it's still the same game as it was when it came out...the fun factor never went down.

I love the fact that there are wide open places and narrow places. Nothin' better then hearing a sniper rifle echo in the middle of a snowy place. Though, the game isn't as open as some other games I've played but they give plenty of space.

The weapons were also nice. Not a big selection but it gave you what you need. The only problem I had with the weapons is you can only use melee with the pistol which caused me to lose health and sometimes die. I would learn which weapons are assigned to what keys instead of using the mouse wheel. If you use the mouse wheel to cycle through weapons you'll probably end up dead a few times.

Speaking of ending up dead...'quick save' is your BEST friend! Use it. Just make sure you don't use quick save after someone throws a grenade at your feet...oops, my bad.

If you've played Medal of Honor games before you know the music is pretty much the best thing ever...same with this game. Though to be fair, it's the same music they use in pretty much all their games. Also, I find it funny that the Germans always seem to say the same things in every game. Even though I'm used to it from other games the music and voices are good.

Speaking of voices...the mission briefings that we have come to know and love in MoH games is also in this one. You can skip it or listen to it, your choice. What I missed though was the actual documentary footage that some other games have shown.

The only gripe I would have with the game (other than the melee) is when the enemies are behind walls you can see a black spot. You always know where they're at (unless they're very far away) so you know if someone is around the corner. I found this very annoying because it would make otherwise difficult missions seem rather easy. It's as if you have a radar and I HATE radar in games...I feel cheap when I use them so this annoyed me but I got used to it. There might be a patch out that will fix it. I haven't checked for patches.

The missions are split up into sections and each section doesn't take too long so this is a great game if you just want to jump in and play for a 15-20 minutes. Though you can also save anytime...you don't have to finish the section if you don't want.

If you love war games you'll love this one...if you love MoH games this is a must have. It's very cheap now..I got Allied Assault + the 2 expansions + Pacific Assault all for $7 on ebay (though I haven't played the expansions yet).
Grab it offline somewhere and start having fun!

I ordered this game for my granddaughter and I was relieved to see that it is easy enough for her to play. She figured it out and is thoroughly enjoying it. I honestly can't say whether it's worth 5 stars or not, but watching her play it I know that if she was old enough to vote she'd definitely give it 5 stars, so I'm giving them for her!

The game is quite a bit old now, but it runs prefectly on my computer. I have a vista operating stystem so dont let that bother you. Only downside is that you cannot use a controller, but what can you expect from a war game this old. Over all good buy, and its nto too expensive, take a chance on this one.

The game is fun to play on its own but by far the best part is playing online. Even after 8 years you can still find hundreds of dedicated servers and 1500 people or more playing online.

I played this game on my laptop which unfortunately I did not get to crank up the volume for the firing scenes and I didn't get to enjoy the graphics to the maximum. However this game was great. The weapons were very accurately displayed and so were the events such as Omaha Beach in D-Day. This game was great and I recommend it to everyone.

4.0 out of 5 stars Killin' Nazis are always fun!!!, September 21, 2006

Yes that's a silly ttile but I have a serious issue with games based on actual wars. Real people died in these wars and making "video games" of them is somewhat disrespectful in my opinion.

That being said, I bought this game used and cheap and wanted to see what the big deal was.

It is a great game.

The level designs look authentic and aren't exaggerated or simplified for the sake of the "action". The scenarios are gritty and war-torn giving the environments credibility. The AI enemies aren't stupid: They duck and dodge and sometimes draw and fire faster than I did. Oddly enough, they all look the same, but hey, they are all Nazis anyway.

The weapons are great and function quite realistically sans the recoil and jamming. An excellent selection of vehicles including jeeps and tanks and then there's the artillery with firing turrets all over the place.

There are a few issues I had though. I found that some levels did get repetitive and there were far too many enemies at times all with the accuracy of Legolas. The auto-saving was another problem but one that can be easily tolerated.

Overall, it's an exciting adventure regardless of the WWII themed action. The Omaha Beach level really was one of the most disturbing levels of gameplay I have ever encountered considering what really happened there.

Play for fun but keep in mind respectfully and with admiration for those that truly fought and died in a horrible war.

3.0 out of 5 stars Recap of game., June 23, 2009
A Kid's Review
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Medal Of Honor: Allied Assault (Jewel Case) (CD-ROM)
This game is really fun, for the first few levels that is. At the beginning you are in africa trying to rescue an agent. This level is easy and fun, because the enemies are somewhat numerous but arent that hard. After this level, you infiltrate a base in norway, and eventually destroy a u boat. My problem with this level is that almost everyone has a machinegun. Around every corner there are three germans shooting you with their mp40s. It is suspenceful, and fun, but annoying sometimes. then you go undercover. This level is cool, but scary. If you come across an officer you will have to take him out without anybody knowing. If one is coming around a corner and sees you in a room with other germans, he will ask for your papers. You then have to shoot him, and when the other germans see that, for the rest of the mission you will be shot at by anyone, even if they dont set of the alarm. Basically, you need to kill yourself and start over. If you dont, then every 6 seconds two or three germans will enter the room you are in and shoot the heck out of you. besides that, it is a fun level. After that, you go to omaha beach. This is one level they did perfectly. after that, you are in france with a captain looking for 101th infantry soldiers why being attacked by germans in the house. good level.after a couple more levels, you get to one of the hardest levels. about 50 germans are in one large area and you have to run fast and find somesort of cover. three germans will go up to you every 5-10 seconds and fire at you. after 20 times of running, taking cover and dying i finally got to a house where things got easier. from there on, it is hard. in a forest mission, it is foggy and machine gun nest in the snow will randomly shoot at you even if you can barely see them, draining your health to 50%. and from then, the level gets easier. i passed that mission, and went to a town.after you clear the town (you lose most of your health, you go into a park where there are soldiers with dogs. the dogs are hard to shoot until they start to bite you, which has killed me over and over. overall, this game is fun, but later levels are very hard and annoying.
